This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Global Claims Manager. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Supports and participates in the development of short and long-term global risk insurance strategies for improving Cummins’ risk management profile; identifies global, strategic risk mitigation strategies and assist with the implementation of those strategies; reviews existing policies for gaps and improvement opportunities; manages the Cummins Risk Management Information System Risk Console to support insurance purchasing decisions.

  • Actively participates in the risk insurance community associations; participates in facilitation and coordination of student internship mentoring and development program between Cummins and representative from Indiana universities supporting risk insurance curriculums.

  • Demonstrated experience in administration of international insurance programs with knowledge of Control Master Programs and focus on tax compliance in foreign placements

  • Understanding of usual and customary policy provisions in different lines of insurance coverage

  • Experience with captive insurers and evaluating the risks it should accept

  • Experience managing third party insurance broker/risk consulting vendor contracts and performance

  • Understanding of the risk management process

  • Gain knowledge of the Global Claims program and act as a backup for all programs

  • Manage the Business Travel Accident claims program

  • Development, management & oversight of US Workers’ Compensation Program including claims & TPA vendor management

  • Collaborate with the TPA Contractor to provide direction to assist with the overall claims management of the TPA program

  • Administration and management of compliance for state and federal regulations. Support and maintain all audit and controls requirements for US WC state filings

  • Participates in the management and oversight of global P&C claims for lines including but not limited to: global property, cargo/inland marine, primary domestic casualty & umbrella excess liability

  • Manages and directs the monthly and quarterly accrual process with internal accounting and external actuary

  • Annual policy renewal budget process support through actuary loss run extract and reporting required for renewal submissions/budget funding.

  • Participation in the work comp renewal to ensure appropriate coverages are in place for self-insured and deductible program.

  • Corporate resource to support global internal business owners/leaders through claim submission, adjustment, settlement and reserve compliance process; coordinate and support internal legal and external vendor recommendations on claim settlements

  • Act as work comp expert and corporate resource for other business partners such as Corporate Occupational Health, Ergonomics, Clinical Operations, etc.

  • Develop and deploy communication plans and training programs by line of coverage to worldwide CMI organizations: Procurement, Logistics, HSE & Fleet, Legal, Benefits & HR, Medical, etc.

  • Support integration and ongoing management of merger/acquisition entity’s historic and future claims administration, including: claim management oversight, TPA/insurer/supporting vendor contract management associated with each historical coverage line, etc

Qualifications

  • Required Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience.

  • 5 years workers compensation experience in multiple jurisdictions.

  • At least one year experience in management of a US Work Comp Program & one year experience in supervision of claims adjuster team.

  • Experience in training work comp, Mod projections and verification of Mod rates.

  • Experience of US State filings for Self-Insurance.

Preferred Experience

  • Contract Management and Accrual or AOP experience.

  • License or Designation: Associate in claims.

Additional Responsibilities

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience plus annualized bonus potential.
