Placement - IT Business Analyst / Project Management
Working as part of the Engine Business IT Systems team based in Darlington Engine Plant. This role involves partnering with business functions to define, determine, analyse, document and communicate objectives, business requirements and priorities for information systems and solutions; working with application and technical experts on solution design, implementation, support, maintenance and enhancement of Information Systems.
The placement student duties will involve:
Lead small projects and initiatives from requirements definition to delivery.
Support and improve processes through process flow mapping, data collection and analysis, testing and problem solving.
Preparing and submitting evidence for quarterly Sarbannes Oxley (SOx) compliance reviews.
Generation of department metrics, and support documentation.
Delivery of presentations to Senior Management on project deliverables
Serves as a resource on large projects and work assignments; employing basic knowledge of effective project management and general business understanding.
Gain cross functional experience through involvement in Plant projects and support of corporate initiatives.
Business Information Systems or Business related degree with IT content.
Ability to learn, analyse, and understand business and technical processes and demonstrate effective problem solving techniques.
Must be a team player with ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time;
General IT proficiency and understanding. Candidates should possess strong Microsoft Office skills.
Self-motivated and the willingness to learn and develop
Structured placement training programme covering presentation, communication, time management and interpersonal skills plus a number of other key topics.
All training relevant to the job role shall be provided. (includes Cummins Project Management training) Training is aimed at improving and extending the placement holders skills and knowledge in the work environment.
A mentor will be assigned to guide you through your year with Cummins and how to get the most from your placement and offer career advice.
Cummins standard training for new employees, and specific training, including IT systems (Microsoft packages including Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
Cummins also offer the opportunity to work in the community with organisations such as ‘Young Enterprise’ and many students choose to increase their skill set by working with local schools and charities.
An overview of the engine manufacturing process including supply chain will be provided.
