This is an exciting opportunity in Huddersfield for a Subsystems Engineer with turbomachinery design knowledge.

Cummins UK is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects from conception through to validation, in particular within this division impellers and turbine wheels. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the industries pre-eminent engineers from around the world.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • Applying your specialised knowledge of engineering principles and practices in turbocharger design and development.

  • Applying technical expertise in turbocharger compressor and turbine aerodynamic and mechanical design and working under minimal supervision.

  • Leading small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Providing technical direction for projects and project teams.

  • Participating as a key contributor and being accountable for project success.

  • Liaising with engineers across the world to work towards successful results.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Fundamentals of thermal and fluid sciences - Specialised knowledge in the areas of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.

  • Strong turbomachinery and/or turbocharged system experience.

  • Relevant aerodynamic / turbomachinery experience required to work on the design of components in the compressor and turbine stages.

  • Knowledge or familiarity with the Ansys suite of software is desirable

  • Experience with turbomachinery design such as Bladegen, Turbogrid, ICEM and CFX pre and post, or similar.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • PhD, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent technical degree required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary - £40,683 - £46,300 (dependent on experience)
