This is an exciting opportunity in Jamestown, New York for a Quality Improvement Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Manages the assurance of continuous improvement toward defect-free processes that meet or exceed customer needs in the supported plant. Responsible for the overall assessment and improvement of the people capabilities, processes, and tools that are critical to the quality assurance programs and processes.
Manages the resolution and follow-up of quality issues with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Manages, mentors, and develops staff; leads the assessment and establishment of education, training, and skills profiles for quality professionals.
Participates in project selection and analysis; advises staff on prioritization of projects.
Oversees projects budget progress and leads cost control activities for assigned teams.
Reinforces customer-led quality focus in the supported organization.
Establishes and maintains quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls.
Serves as a key quality representative for supplier and customer audits.
Manages post-implementation exercises to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
Follows Six Sigma methodologies in the process of identifying, selecting, tracking, progressing through, and assessing the success of projects and initiatives.
Aiag Core Tools Expectation - AIAG Core tools are seen as being fundamental in support of the automotive preferred quality system ISO/TS 16949, and delivering satisfactory product quality.
Six Sigma - This skill is concerned with three disciplines: (1)TDFSS (Technology Development for Six Sigma): the systematic methodology of integrating statistical tools into the Product Proceeding Technology process in order to achieve predictive design quality and meet Voice of the Customer requirements. (2)DFSS (Design for Six Sigma): similar tools used in the product and process development work in order to achieve predictive design quality and meet Voice of the Customer requirements. (3)DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Six Sigma: a disciplined approach to enterprise-wide quality and improvement and variation reduction using statistically-based tools.
Auditing Fundamentals - Auditing Fundamentals - This skill is related to all types of auditing except financial auditing. This skills includes knowledge of audit/assessment processes, receiving and providing training, actual participation in audits/assessments, leading and managing audit/assessment processes, and certification.
Problem Solving And Quality Improvement - Problem Solving and Improvement approaches, including understanding of tools/process type and selection, plus Corrective and Preventive Action processes.
Significant level of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience, required.
Lead and set the multi-year strategy for the Quality Systems, Cost of Coverage, and Emergent Quality Response groups in Central Quality (Team 600).
Serve as a Quality interface for Heavy Duty VPI programs.
Conduct NPI Manufacturing Quality reviews (including APQP), and participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.
Lead key Quality Improvement Initiatives driven by the Jamestown Engine Plant Goal Tree and multi-year improvement plan.
Oversee the Jamestown Engine Plant Plant Six Sigma Hopper and Continuous Improvement Hopper processes.
Serve as a technical resource for Central Quality Engineering.
Lead PIC Emergent Quality Issues to successful resolution and participate in PIC Emergent issues led by others as needed.
Establish and maintain a work environment which meets or exceeds Cummins safety and 5S expectations.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree required.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience plus annualized bonus potential.
