This is an exciting opportunity in Daventry (or another UK Power Systems location) for a Supplier Quality Improvement Leader.

Cummins UK is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as leading, developing and supporting the global team of Supplier Quality Improvement Engineers and supporting our diverse Supplier & Customer base worldwide.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • You will be responsible for a global supply base of approximately 500 key suppliers across a range of categories, leading the selection and development of suppliers to ensure defect-free performance of the business' supplier base.

  • Developing people capabilities, processes and tools to continuously improve the critical supplier quality function across the Power Systems and Engine Business units whilst also leading strategies for optimizing productivity.

  • Responsibility for managing high value project budgets.

  • Overseeing the supplier quality resources for new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier-related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.

  • Establishing effective deployment of relevant purchasing and supplier processes for key components across a variety of programs, commodity resourcing, and other purchasing and supplier activities.

  • Improves processes for supplier selection and management, new product implementation, and business sourcing on a continuous basis; develops and manages supplier quality reporting measures and methods.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Extensive proven and well developed coaching, mentoring and leadership skills are required.

  • Effective influencing skills to support consensus when working with stakeholders externally/internally, with leadership on long term strategic quality planning and with functional area management for quality control issues.

  • Ability to work flexibly with the complexity and ambiguity that surrounds the Tier 1 & Automotive Components sector in terms of volumes and proliferation.

  • Coming from a strong change management background, you will be required to drive improvement within the supplier quality processes.

  • Significant knowledge and demonstrable technical competence in all areas of supplier quality improvement, quality control, strategic quality planning, AIAG Core Tools, technical designs and budget management is required.

  • This role will involve extensive travelling up to 50%.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications:

  • Educated to degree level in a related subject or equivalent in experience.

  • Additional language skills would be a bonus.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or knowledge of similar problem solving tools is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: £72000 - £88000 (dependent upon experience).
