Summary

Designs and develops service training programs using standardized tools and processes. Delivers familiarization and qualification training for their products and areas of responsibility. Evaluates training needs and effectiveness for the programs they develop and deliver. Mentors training developers and instructors in training development and delivery. Leads content development and delivery improvement projects. Designs, develops and delivers self-study and hands on service training programs for internal employees, customers and distributor trainers using standardized tools and processes including needs assessment, job task analysis, competency gap analysis, and assessment tools.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning the deployment of the training infrastructure to support new product introduction with consideration of the business case for training.

  • Responsible for the development of training aids, training hardware, Qualify the Qualifier (QtQ) plans, and materials necessary for successful replication of training at local training centers.

  • Develops and delivers training programs on complex systems and customized product ranges.

  • Works with subject matter experts from engineering, service, distribution, and marketing for product definition; reviews content with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and applicability of training programs.

  • Supports new product introduction teams with training-related program requirements, resource plans, schedules, and program status.

  • Delivers QtQ classroom training to qualify regional and distributor trainers.

  • Leads, communicates and facilitates the training needs of global trainers for the products they are responsible for.

  • Designs, develops and delivers advanced skill and knowledge training sessions.

  • Solicits feedback and incorporates improvements suggested by other business units, regions and functions through participation in teams.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of instructors and training programs through design and development of evaluation tools, questionnaires and survey forms.

  • Evaluates training effectiveness of regional and distributor trainers on content and delivery of qualification programs.

  • Works with external resources for tools development, translations, project development and project management.

  • Maintains classroom and equipment to facilitate training delivery.

  • Serves as a mentor to new department team members; part of training program review teams to ensure quality and effectiveness of training.

Skills

  • Distribution/Service Network Knowledge - Knowledge of the Distribution Business Unit's role in the distribution and support of Cummins products. Effectively communicates and works with Distributor personnel to complete performance plan objectives which require interaction with the global distribution network.

  • Instructional Design & Development - Uses variety of techniques to create instructional content of courses and curricula.

  • Attention To Details - Demonstrates ability to work in a thorough and detailed manner. Provides accurate, consistent information on all documents. Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.

  • Technical Writing - Uses technical writing appropriately as part of their work. Understands the underlying principles, techniques, and procedures.

  • Service Product Knowledge - General knowledge of all products in all regions. Deep knowledge of one product line, some knowledge of multiple product lines. Able to apply product knowledge effectively to a wide variety of situations. Deep knowledge of all owned sub-systems, some knowledge of other sub-systems.

Education, Licenses,Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required.

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Technical Education or related technical field preferred.

Experience

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

  • Coordinate and facilitate Nashville on-boarding classes.

  • Complete task analysis to identify training needs.

  • Develop Instructor-Led-Training (ILT) and eLearning.

  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop training curriculum, On The-Job (OJT) checklists, audits, and delivery of training.

  • Track training completions in the Cummins Learning Center.

Base rate commensurate with experience.
