This is an exciting opportunity in New Hudson, MI for a Production Supervisor.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • The Production Supervisor isprimarily responsible for supervising team members in the Cummins PowerProducts assembly and warehouse departments.

  • The supervisor is responsible formaximizing profitability, growth, and the overall success of the department.

  • Ensures all safety and qualityprocesses are being followed.

  • Focuses on removing obstacles thatprevent achieving production targets.

  • Recognizes bottlenecks in processand quickly acts to keep the flow going. This position may be required to workflexible shifts depending on order demand.

  • Supervise team members assigned toassembly, light fabrication, and prototype build processes. Hires, trains, andreviews team members.

  • Model and promote safe work habitsand procedures, and ensure compliance with Cummins standards and applicablegovernment regulations. Administer JSA (Job Safety Assessment) audits onschedule set by the Operations Manager.

  • Establish the weekly and dailyproduction targets with the Operations Manager. Communicate the targets to theassembly team and establish the daily plan to hit the goals.

  • Maintain build sequence/statusboards, assembler assignments and visual communication tools. Measure andreport on effectiveness of team activities.

  • Provide material handlingrequirements to ensure cohesive plan for the right material to arrive at theright place and the right time to meet the production plans.

  • Provide information toMaterials/Schedulers by compiling and analyzing production performance recordsand data; answering questions and responding to requests.

  • Work with the Engineering departmentto get resolution to design problems that are affecting production.

  • Establish and maintain positive,productive working environment for production team members, through fair andconsistent administration of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Promote 5S and cleanliness of thedepartment.

  • Participate in continuousimprovement initiatives with internal teams and our suppliers.

  • Maintain working relationship withthe union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Emergency Management And Response -An emergency is any unplanned event that can cause deaths or significantinjuries to employees, customers or the public. An emergency can also be an eventthat can shut down business, disrupt operations, threaten the facility'sfinancial standing or public image, or cause physical or environmental damage.Emergency management is the process of preparing for, mitigating, respondingto, and recovering from an emergency. Minimum elements for consideration in anemergency management system are: direction and control, communications(internal and external), life safety, property protection, community outreach,recovery and restoration, administration and logistics, emergency responseteam, and strategic emergency management committee. Understanding of emergencyresponse includes knowledge of incident command systems, development of awritten response plan, protective equipment, emergency action plans, escape procedures,reporting procedures, and hazard assessment. Understands and applies techniquesrelated to incident command systems, protective equipment, escape procedures,reporting procedures, and hazard assessment.

  • Incident Investigation - The methodof reporting the occurrence of an occupational injury/illness, near hit, orproperty damage. Incident investigations determine how and why these failuresoccur. Employees should be able to perform a thorough, effective incidentinvestigation including root cause analysis, 5-why analysis and development ofeffective corrective actions. Knows and understands the components of anincident investigation and can participate in team investigation.

  • Labor And Employee Relations - Laborand Employee Relations is a broad field encompassing all interchanges betweenemployers and employees. Possesses a working knowledge of serving as anemployee advocate. Understands the impact of employee relations onunionization, employee absenteeism and turnover, the potential for litigation,and credibility between management and employees. Implements programs and toolsthat influence the organizational culture and ensure fairness and consistenttreatment of employees, consistent feedback mechanisms and communicationprograms such as surveys, skip level interviews, employee participationcommittees, and communication meetings. Has taken part in problem solvingprocedures, counseling for issues, and management and supervisor training.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses or Certifications

  • Associates degree or five years ofexperience in engine, mechanical, or assembly environments, or an equivalentcombination of experience and education.

  • Minimum 5 years of experiencesupervising in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • Familiarity with Union environmentsis preferred.

Base Salary commensurate with experience.
