We have an exciting opportunity in Pasco, Washington a Parts Professional Counter associate. This is an ideal position for a knowledgeable, energetic person who has a passion for Cummins parts, works effectively in a team environment and delivers superior customer service. This position is responsible for interacting directly with customers by performing a variety of duties in the service center parts department including retrieving part numbers, preparing purchase orders, processing sales and performing inventory control duties. Other duties include:

  • Use reference tools and resources (QSOL, parts manuals, IMS, etc.) to locate and supply parts for service center shop and retail customers.

  • Identify customer’s parts requirements by part numbers and recommend additional products.

  • Discuss use and features of various parts based on knowledge of Cummins products.

  • Receive and fill parts orders from all order sources (service shop, in-person, phone, email, CUMPAS, fax, etc.); efficiently place orders internally (Cummins, Onan, inter-branch) or externally according to purchase policies and preferred vendor arrangements.

  • Process cash, check and credit card sales.

  • Follow parts inventory processes and policies and perform receiving, stocking, order fulfillment and stock counts with accuracy.

  • Maintain inventory organization (bin locations, labeling, etc.) according to prearranged system.

  • Maintain warehouse organization and housekeeping.

  • Perform various material handling duties on facility using forklift.

  • Follow health, safety and environmental policies to promote a clean, safe work environment.

  • Work and act in accordance within Cummins Vision, Mission and Core Values.

To succeed in this role, the candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge of retail and parts department operations.

  • Competent knowledge of business software systems such as Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone etiquette and ability to develop and maintain relationships with external and internal customers.

  • Analysis/problem solving skills.

  • Self-motivated team player with ability to work and communicate well with customers and co-workers.

  • Demonstrate the ability to initiate, expedite and follow through on task completion.

  • Ability to positively react to change in environment, work schedule, processes and people.

  • Experience handling customers in a courteous and professional manner. Desire to provide excellent customer service.

  • Accurate with numbers, desire and aptitude to learn.

  • Basic knowledge of diesel engine technology and heavy duty trucks, Cummins product and parts systems knowledge preferred.

  • Possess valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Performs other Service Center Duties as may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Five years parts experience preferred.

Compensation and benefits

Hourly wage commensurate with experience plus bonus.
