This is an exciting opportunity in Shoreview, MN for a Mechanical Engineer.

Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems

Product Validation.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Applies developing knowledge of engineering principles and practices to assigned tasks in the design, development, analysis and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle.

  • Assists in creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

  • Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues.

  • Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.

  • Uses prescribed, established methods, and works under direct guidance.

  • Participates as a team member.

  • Learns team roles and how to contribute towards team goals.

  • Carries out defined and partially defined tasks.

  • Learns and applies basic knowledge of an engineering discipline.

  • Applies engineering and/or scientific skills and develops experience in creating engineering solutions.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • May perform as Technical Lead on small to medium scale projects with some guidance.

  • Provide monthly updates of project schedules and resource plans (time, test expense, and materials expense) to manager.

  • Work to improve Engineering Quality as measured by right first time metrics for all change order requests.

  • Support urgent requests in a timely manner including support for special order quotes and designs.

  • Safely and properly use various hand and power tools to support Engineering Builds for design verification testing of electromechanical product.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues utilizing appropriate troubleshooting techniques and tools in laboratory, virtual, and manufacturing environments.

  • Represent Cummins as onsite support of verification testing being conducted at local and remote test facilities with some supervision.

  • Manages multiple tasks independently to predefined priorities; asking for clarification on tasks and priorities from project leader or supervisor when needed.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering and at least two years of Power experience in Power Industry.

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
