Description

Interact cross-functionally to seek out and document current business challenges that can be solved with data analysis. Provide functional leadership to establish and maintain processes that lead to wide application of data capture and analysis to produce tangible business results. Experience with Manufacturing, Automotive/industrial/marine service operations and/or sales a plus.

Ability to quickly absorb and deploy new technical concepts and tools

Data Capture and Reporting:

  • Based on requirements gathered from business leaders, utilize Online Analytical Processing [OLAP] connection to execute SQL queries from data stored in the Business Management System [BMS].

  • Alternatively, utilize available data from the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition [OBIEE] and Microsoft Self Service Intelligence [SSBI] platforms.

  • Devise additional methods of data capture needed to accomplish assigned projects.

  • Work with IT/development to validate and cleanse information to maintain data integrity.

  • Process captured data to allow for user-friendly manipulation of data for consumption by business leaders.

  • Propose report formats, including graphical presentations, to more effectively communicate meaningful data trends and relationships.

  • Manage collaboration environment to disseminate relevant data to all stakeholders.

Data Analysis:

  • Utilize statistical and visualization software to consolidate information into cohesive correspondence for use in decision-making.

  • Acquire specific business acumen to be able to tie analysis to actual operational impact.

  • Act as a mentor to others seeking data solutions in current and future environments.

  • Research best practices in analytics and suggest pragmatic organizational improvements.

  • Perform other, related projects and duties as assigned.

Functional Leadership:

  • Identify and take steps to resolve data capture challenges, closely working with the IT Support group to implement effective data acquisition solutions in our region.

  • Assume leadership responsibility for mentoring and increasing productivity of Business Improvement analysts and interns.

  • Provide thought leadership, regionally and nationally, to help unleash the power of Cummins via increased data analytics capability of the organization.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Relevant degree or 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

  • SQL and statistical analysis experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.

  • Exceptional degree of intellectual curiosity.

  • Working knowledge of OBIEE, Microsoft BI, and similar.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating requirements gathering sessions.

  • Experience with Manufacturing, Automotive/industrial/marine service operations and/or sales a plus.

  • Ability to quickly absorb and deploy new technical concepts and tools
