About the role

Our Papua Indonesia team is a close-knit operation servicing the Freeport mine via PT-JDA with a large focus on mining equipment/ High Horse Power products up to 2,000HP in the Freeport mine encompassing underground mining and open pit operations.

Housed at our Village in Milepost 68, you will be supplied full accommodation and board, transport and medical (after 3 months’ probation). You will be driven the daily commute 45 minutes up to 10,000 - 14,000 feet, working a 12-hour daily shift with your field service team (including travel and breaks time). Given the high-altitude location, a functional medical is required for all new and existing staff to ensure your fitness to work safely in this environment.


  • Provide a high level of supervision, engagement and leadership to a large team of expat Cummins technicians and Nationals / local employees

  • Managing manpower and roster of technicians

  • Complete reports, paperwork, purchase orders, warranty documents and invoicing

  • Conduct daily toolbox talks, leading a safety first culture

  • Assign work orders to qualified technicians, based on customer needs and requirements

  • Ensure quality repairs are carried out in a safe, efficient, and timely

  • Build a strong, cohesive team and provide support to your team, managing issues associated with heightened security and living remotely

  • Coach and mentor technicians

  • Take the lead when the Operations Manager is on leave break

About you

  • Previous experience in a leadership role in a mine site or remote location would be ideal

  • Ideally have experience leading a team, or have worked in a high security environment

  • Knowledge of Cummins products

  • Strong aptitude for problem-solving

  • Ability to operate under stress, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and work in a team atmosphere

  • Robust focus on security and safety with the ability to provide calm leadership and direction during any security events

  • Effective communication skills towards a broad range of audience including customers, senior management and area director levels

  • A relevant trade automotive qualification in heavy diesel / heavy commercial vehicle

  • An open and flexible work approach engaging with diverse nationalities

  • An interest in learning the basics of a new language (Bahasa)

  • Demonstrated analytic and critical thinking skills

  • Good PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft packages
