This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a Controls System Test Team Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Serves as group lead onprojects and work assignments in the following elements.

  • This may include oneor more of the following: Developing the electrical andelectronics specifications Designing electrical and electronic systems andcomponents. Analyzing and simulating electrical and electronic capabilities.Implementing and generating software. Verifying and validating controls,hardware, or software. Tuning controls. Releasing controls, hardware, orsoftware. Troubleshooting controls, hardware, or software issues. Servicing and maintaining controls, hardware, or software.Managing life-cycle obsolescence Design and Analysis of ElectricGenerators/Alternators and motors, Electrical Circuit Design, Performancesimulation of Electrical Power Systems. Electrical and Electronics includes allelectrical and electronic elements within the system: Open and closed loop controls.Diagnostics and OBD. Algorithms. Electrical and Electronic control modules andrelated microcontroller architectures. Electronic devices.Embedded software. Sensors and switches. Actuators, mechatronics, electric motors, alternators/generators and relays.Ignition systems. Battery systems. Electrical and Electronic tools andinformation products. Electrical and Electronic tool interfaces. Interconnects and harnesses. Datalinks andcommunication networks. Machine electronics interfaces.

  • Typical roles include: Electrical and Electronics systems, Hardware,Software, Controls and diagnostics design and Electronic controls application.

  • Leads a small technical group with minimumsupervision.

  • Provides guidance, sets expectations, clarifiesresponsibilities, and provides feedback for project team members in accomplishing tasks and goals.

  • Participates as a key contributor and assigns workto meet group commitments.

  • Influences at department or program managementlevel.

  • Provides input on program-related decisions.

  • Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Contributes to the solution of complex technicalproblems; provides resources, removes barriers and ensures application of common approaches.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineeringdiscipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

  • Identifies developmental needs of group members.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coachesand mentors less experienced engineers.

  • Some management experience needed.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Significantlevel of relevant work and experience required.

  • Fiveor more years’ experience in a similar discipline expected.

  • Software development background.

  • Testing, validation and verification.

  • HIL experience.

  • Lead a team of hourlyand exempt employees.

  • Facilitaterelationship between the test team and the internal customers.

  • Develop and executeautomated test scripts to support controls testing.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
