This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Engine Diagnostics Engineer. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Supports several aspects of a function’s Functional Excellence efforts. Conducts functional analysis to identify development needs and process improvements. Coordinates and monitors improvement projects of varying complexity and size in assigned functional area. This position may provide exposure to multiple Cummins business units and sub-functions.
Participates in the development and implementation of global functional excellence initiatives.
Assist with the Implementation of learning and development programs for the function; Assists in communicating the direction and specific information concerning the function to stakeholders.
Is engaged in managing global position profiles and functional skill competency.
Participates in COS assessments.
Helps develop Functional Excellence Assessments.
Assists with Functional Talent Management processes
COS - Able to demonstrate competent understanding and usage of the COS ten practices and functions as a method of continuous improvement to support the business.

Six Sigma - Understands the basic principals of the Six Sigma program and participated on a Six Sigma project team.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required.
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. Experience across organizations and global regions preferred. Knowledge of the function being worked in preferred. Experience in managing the development of training.
CMI Diagnostic Development team delivers tools, methods and standards through functional excellence processes that enable service providers to deliver timely right first time diagnosis/prognosis, every time, through accurate failed/worn component isolation and fix verification. Success is measured by low repeat repair return rates and short diagnostic times. Product delivery teams also follow these processes to deliver compliant and diagnosable engine systems from PPT through VPI and to drive continuous improvement in Current Product Support. These processes are implemented in all business units, area business organizations and global regions.
This role is specifically focused on developing the company from a functional excellence perspective to deliver on two key initiatives; Autonomous Diagnostics and Prognostics.
Autonomous Diagnostics is an initiative to improve the structure and capability of the diagnostic system (both in-mission and out-of-mission) to eliminate actions required by the technician to confirm the malfunction, to restore the equipment to functional state, and to validate that the right repair was made.
Prognostics is an initiative to supplement our products with situational and operational intelligence that allows our customers to optimize their operations through better downtime scheduling, tailored maintenance schedules, and proactive repairs.
Key tasks involved with this role will include both strategic and tactical efforts such as:
Leading projects to explore opportunities within the Autonomous Diagnostics and Prognostics initiatives.
Leading the design, development and implementation of tools and processes which facilitate the achievement of functional excellence under these initiatives.
Establishing partnerships with cross functional groups to identify functional process, gaps and develops improvement plans.
Coordinating and monitoring the execution of the improvement projects.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
