This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for an IT Quality Assurance Analyst- Senior. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Develops functional and technical test methodologies, plans, scenarios and cases for testing of applications and systems at various stages of development and implementation; coordinates and executes testing to ensure quality solutions and efficient system performance; reports testing results and tracks resolution of issues identified during testing.

  • Creates and executes various testing documentation (including plans, conditions, and scripts) based on business and technical requirements.

  • Provides feedback of testing results, ensuring defects are logged, tracked, resolved, re-tested, closed, and reviewed by the appropriate stakeholders prior to the scheduled release.

Ensures applications and/or solutions adhere to high quality standards.

  • Analyzes information systems and identifies and documents any quality related issues.

  • Works with BA’s to develop customer relationships as a liaison between customer and solutions delivery teams ensuring applications meet business needs.

  • Applies various testing methodologies within various development methodologies (waterfall, agile & iterative).

  • Works closely to understand and align with Change & Release management policies in support of their testing needs prior to deployment to Production.

  • Applies testing tools and processes in support of the Cummins SDLC model.

  • Carries out routine and semi-routine tasks of large projects as well as complex tasks of small projects.

  • May coach and mentor less experienced quality analysts

  • Research customer usage patterns and identify key system performance metrics and requirements

  • Review all system architecture changes and assess system capacity impacts

  • Produce system sizing spreadsheets for project teams in preparation of establish test plan

  • Review performance, security and mobile test results and suggest means to improve upon testing approach and results of tests

  • Subject matter expert (SME) for Performance, Security, and Mobile testing capabilities.

  • Responsible for keeping abreast of the products for SDLC; become SME on products

  • Engage with SDLC Practices trainers to help on-board project teams on the SDLC tools and processes, when needed

  • Establish standards and best practices for conducting performance, security, mobile testing- achieving sufficient scalability and objectives of project teams.

Benchmark current system, develop models of current architecture, identify system bottlenecks and manage architectural changes that would improve system performance.

  • Works with other members of the team to assure that new product features continue to operate within the required performance, security and mobile bounds, and baseline testing is set up to validate the system’s performance.

  • Leads other Quality Assurance Analysts to create test templates for load/performance, application security and mobile testing

  • Utilizes the existing tools and techniques to execute test cases and build/script new tools for performing testing/validation function

  • Develops and maintains system capacity models, working closely with tools team

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required:

IT Metrology - The ability to understand and apply the science of measurement in order to determine conformance to requirements. The ability to develop standards (measures, metrics, and key performance indicators) to accurately assess whether the solution meets the intended outcomes.

Software Development Methodologies - Able to apply industry defined development techniques to create or modify IT solutions.

Solution Validation (Testing) - The ability to validate that a configuration item change and/or solution meets requirements defined specifications and that it fulfills its intended purpose.

Solution Verification (Process) - The ability to verify that the configuration item changes and/or solutions development processes, best practices, and standards are adhered to (repeatable) and deliverables are completed with the expected level of quality (reproducibility).

Organizational Awareness - Understands and works in line with the organization’s mission, operations, structure, and goals; understands informal structures and processes of the organization; understands organization-level implications of his or her day-to-day decisions.

Relationship Management - Creates relationships with new acquaintances quickly and confidently; works to build trust and partner with stakeholders; successfully manages both internal and external relationships (e.g., vendor relationships); is comfortable in a challenger role that, at times, requires building constructive tension in interactions.

Experience

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. 3-5 years of experience.

  • 5 years of experience with Rational Tool Suite Rational Requirements Composer (RRC), Rational Quality Manager (RQM), and Rational Team Concert (RTC)

  • 5 years of experience with Rational Performance Tester (RPT) and HP Loadrunner tools used for Performance testing, IBM Security AppScan tool used for Security testing, and Mobile testing tools.

  • Aptitude and desire to learn technical aspects of commercial off-the-shelf tools or applications, to become the resident expert with knowledge on the product…knowing how to use the product to achieve the end resultsAbility to work effectively with Supplier resources to script and execute load/performance, application security.

  • Establish standards and best practices for conducting performance, security, mobile testing- achieving sufficient scalability and objectives of project teamsTechnical competency and experience

  • Expert knowledge of integration of performance tool to test management tool like RQM/Quality center.

  • Excellent understanding of typical Web servers (apache, tomcat) and App sever monitoring capability

  • 5 years of Test Services experience a definite asset

  • Expert knowledge of Application Security Vulnerabilities. How to test for them, ability to communicate the risks and potential exploitations of each and able to recommend techniques to correct or block these vulnerabilities.

  • 7 years’ experience working with performance/security/mobile modeling of the following technologies: - Unix/Linux Operating Systems - Java - Oracle/SQL Programming - SQL queries, PL/SQL knowledge - Query optimizations, query plans - Experience with AWM, ADDM - Network - TCP/IP, routing, interface configuration, DNS, firewall, proxy, remote access

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business or a related subject required.
