This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Market Research Manager. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Independently manages the entire primary and secondary market research process with outside vendors including identifying the best vendors, negotiation, definition of project timelines and deliverables, interpreting results, writing reports and making actionable strategic recommendations.

  • Works with internal clients to initiate qualitative and quantitative research to provide insights on customer needs, motivations and purchasing habits to help guide strategic planning process.

  • Manages a network of over 20 competitive secondary intelligence sources, including online resources, databases, external contacts, and vendor partners.

  • Manages contract negotiations, client relationship and training programs.Develop program to regularly provide vendor training.

  • Researches/evaluates and makes recommendations for new online subscription information databases and web resources that are aligned with the company’s strategic goals.Negotiates new and renewal contracts with vendors.

  • Serves as champion, trainer and mentor to equip Cummins team members with tools and techniques to use online subscription information databases and web resources.

  • Keep abreast of primary and secondary market research reports and events and share information with key stakeholders.

  • Develops timelines and metrics to meet all key deadlines and deliverables.

Qualifications

Skills:

Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods in the B2B business environment.

Experienced managing projects, budgets and timelines with primary and secondary research vendors. Directed all components of research projects.

Has a sound knowledge of the key market research companies and how they are evolving. Identifies key trend setters.

Experienced using and managing client relationships with online subscription information databases and web resources such as Factiva, LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters, Capital IQ, etc.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build strong working relationships and interacts with all levels of staff with tact and diplomacy.

Process oriented with strong customer focus and project management skills.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university, or equivalent degree in marketing, sales or a related subject required. MBA or equivalent degree preferred.

Experience:

Working knowledge of transportation industry or other relevant experience.

5 – 10 years of relevant and related work experience required in a research B2B environment.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
