Description
Obtain input from stakeholders to deliver information and recommendations that lead to quality product decisions and improve processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Report Group (FIRG) and tools including design review checklist to enable high quality decision making. Determine assignable causes for product problems, implement robust, data-based solutions, and identify systemic root causes in order to solve issues and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Responsible for the development of product verification and system validation plan to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority. Evaluate analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and that design solutions meet user needs. Mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, and noise factors. Document information based on extensive knowledge gained in technical function activities and communicate to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity. Utilize knowledge of Product development execution, Monitoring and Control to assist with activities involved in developing a product to a respectively aligned hierarchy of requirements and technical profiles, meet project resource and quality expectations, ensure product capabilities meets or exceeds expectations, take mitigating actions when project risks are high and understand the full product life cycle process and stakeholders. Identify system capability and risks through analysis and experimental testing of the system, sub-system or super system in the context of its environment. Negotiate and verify requirements against capability to guide project scope and system development accordingly. Assess legacy system versus proposed new system solution capabilities and make decisions as to how best to achieve system capability with consideration of stakeholder trade-offs.
Qualifications
Experience and Education:
Positions require a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Product, Systems or Validation Engineer, or related position. Experience to include Product Verification and Validation; Product problem solving; Identify systemic root causes; Mitigate potential product failure modes; Technical Documentation; Product development execution, Monitoring and Control; Product life cycle process; System capability and risk analysis.
