We are looking for a talented Technical Advisor to join our team specializing in Research and Technology for our Corporate/CBS Segment in Columbus IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
This applied science, developing leadership position applies chemical principles that create and develop product functionalities which are integrated and sold into Cummins’ products. The position involves the research, design, analysis, testing and failure analysis of chemical based products, including catalyts, substrates, sensors, batteries and fuel cells.
Provides problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and often global business impact.
Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or managing improvement across business units.
Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams, up to and including direct management of small to mid-sized teams.
Operates as the recognized multi-competency specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a site or global business unit with responsibility for developing local talent (direct or indirect).
Coaches and mentors’ other engineers, project managers and cross-functional team members.
May also include academic or industry collaboration in a competency or discipline area.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Build roadmap of catalyst component technologies
Responsible for introduction of catalyst component technologies from various suppliers and managing the expectations of stakeholders
Provide recommendations based on the empirical evaluation of DOC, SCR, ASC, TWCs and other catalyst technologies used in various Cummins applications
Responsible for supporting extended life project to develop i) advanced aging transfer function to represent real-world EUL parts, that includes chemical aging impacts, ii) recipes to generate EUL and extended life parts and iii) recipes to create OBD limit parts and iv) sensors and fuel cells performance capabilities
Fundamental characterization of catalysts to develop performance and aging models
Identify catalyst degradation mechanisms through the analysis of real-world high mileage systems - Generate data for building and tuning transient and reduced-order kinetic models for ALD
Translate catalyst fundamental knowledge from academic collaborations to provide kinetic models and catalyst diagnostics
Support current product and competitive evaluation projects and closely collaborate with India and China technical counter parts and provide guidance and resources in support for addressing ATS product and component needs
Manage and update reactor and aging hardware, capabilities, procedures to increase the efficiency of overall team productivity
Generate high quality data and functional and fundamental insights in to catalyst degradation and performance aspects to develop advance component and architecture concepts and aging procedures to meet future emissions and durability regulations
Provide leadership role in catalyst components area and provide deep subject matter expertise to various team across the organization and manage requirements, planning and laboratory work in support of respective projects
Write project proposals, solicit funding and lead the discussions with external programs and bring and translate the knowledge from various resources to help the team members and leads in setting up strategic planning - Effectively communicate with leadership, junior engineers and hourly employees on regular basis to increase the effectiveness of resource utilization and to bring long term value to the work/data generated.
College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Postgraduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
