This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Video Production Specialist. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

As a member of Cummins Visual Communication team, this person will integrate into our small team providing production expertise and support on a variety of marketing, sales and internal video projects. Supporting Cummins engineering, communications and marketing specialists, they will use their creativity, technical knowledge and perspective to craft media that brings the customer’s goals to life. Using their imagination and skillset they will team with their peers in Visual Communications to create media that captures the viewer’s imagination and effectively trains, informs, inspires, communicates and/or tells the appropriate story for the audience and distribution channel.

Responsibilities and Duties

Expectations are that the candidate will have many of these skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Fixed camera expertise: Has experience operating studio and ENG cameras in a variety of brands/formats. Uses aesthetic judgement to creatively frame and move with subjects. Skilled at using tripods, etc.

  • Hand held camera expertise: Has experience handholding a video camera during live events. Experienced in the use of camera stabilization equipment, such as Redrock micro, Osmo, sliders, etc.

  • Experienced lighting for studio and on-location. Adapt at working with a variety of lighting instruments. Is able to quickly and effectively light under challenging lighting conditions.

  • Experienced with grip tools (dollys, c-stands, etc.)

  • Experienced recording audio – good working knowledge of microphone types as well as boom and lavalier recording techniques.

  • Experienced with non-linear editing. Experience with Avid editing systems and/or Adobe Suite a plus.

  • Experience with motion graphics; any level of 3D is a plus, e.g. software familiarity with Cineme 4D and Maya, etc.

Producing Skills:

  • Experience working as a Producer/Director; is comfortable working with clients; skilled at envisioning end products; effectively and efficiently brings staff and resources together to achieve the client’s goals.

  • Has some experience with production budgets – creates realistic estimates and delivers products that are consistently at or under budget.

  • Experienced at breaking down and preparing for a shoot in terms of camera coverage with an eye toward editing.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrated good leadership skills as a cameraman; is able to work well with crew members and comfortably interface with clients in production situations.

  • Client focused – has top notch service attitude, delivering outstanding results and taking pride in their own – as well as the team’s accomplishments.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity and deadlines.

  • Experience working with senior leaders a plus.



Ability to develop graphics, images, or other elements from an idea, words, or an engineering model.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

A 4 year degree in Communications or a related field.


2 - 5 years media production experience

Seeking a highly motivated individual who brings creativity and enthusiasm to their craft. Excited to view your reel and see what mix of skills you can bring - out of the following disciplines: Videographer, Editor, Motion Graphics and/or Producer/Director.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
