This is an exciting opportunity in Darlington for a Product Design Engineer.

Cummins England is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as designing after treatment components within non Cummins engines. Ensuring we exceed our customers’ expectations.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • Manage projects within after treatment design. From Initial concept through to product release.

  • Carry out investigations with various teams across our Darlington & European sites: this includes validation/ tolerances etc.

  • Create 3D modelling designs to the highest standard.

  • Involved in New Product Introduction and current products investigations.

  • Creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

  • Part of the team that verifies the design using analysis and or functional testing, interpreting results, drives decisions and assesses risk.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience using 3D modelling (Creo experience would be advantageous).

  • Demonstrates in depth knowledge in product/component design. Able to perform concept design at an advanced level and lead the development of components/sub systems from concept to production.

  • Ability to perform design for manufacture at an advanced level. Able to lead design for manufacture and assembly, train/coach other in the development of design for manufacture and assembly skills.

  • Previous project management experience.

  • Demonstrate effective schedule management for multiple, complex projects

  • Participate as a team member contributing towards team goals and measures. Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Degree qualified
