We are looking for a talented Senior Manager, Smart Factory Process & Systems to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Components Business Segment in Columbus, Fletcher, NC/ or you home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Identifies and implements advanced or complex digital design manufacturing solutions using data, models and simulations. Leads, co-leads, or advises manufacturing teams. Demonstrates advanced comprehensive manufacturing knowledge for the application of digital tools.

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge or use of digital technology as it applies to manufacturing in a wide range of work situations.

  • Uses data, models, and simulations to virtually analyze manufacturing systems to reduce risks and timing.

  • Applies the use of prognostics in the applications of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and product quality.

  • Integrates the total impact of digital manufacturing technology as it applies to advanced or new manufacturing solutions for a safe environment while balancing cost, quality, and delivery.

  • Develops and leads either large or complex projects.

  • Develops and drives standardization for manufacturing.

  • Manages projects in a cross functional environment and has the ability to lead matrixed and dotted line teams.

  • Coaches and mentors manufacturing personnel.

  • Serves as the technical expert for one or more manufacturing digital disciplines.

  • Develops, advises, and recommends long term resolutions to systemic manufacturing problems.

  • Collaborates and/or solves complex manufacturing issues and provides solutions across the Cummins-wide network.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Manufacturing Analysis Led Design - Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment and performance to make data driven decisions before changes are made and to drive continuous improvements.

  • Manufacturing Prognostics - Applies prognostics techniques by collecting real time equipment conditions and then use advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to project future failures to eliminate unplanned equipment and systems down time.

  • Controls System Security - Develops and implements Controls System Security by specifying, reviewing, and approving company-owned and/or supplier designs for new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment to ensure our manufacturing controls and systems are secure.

  • Factory Automation and Control Systems - Implements changes to further automate manufacturing processes using available technology, programming techniques, and identifying needed material and resources for project completion to provide the optimum automation for the manufacturing environment.

  • Data Mining - Extracts insights from data by identifying relationships and patterns through use of a suite of data exploration and data visualization techniques to understand the underlying structure of the data and enable sound conclusions upon model building.

  • Sensor Technology and Measurement - Selects and applies the sensor technology, performing measurements in the acquired data that leads to the correct analysis and conclusion to help differentiate products that meet quality standards from non-conforming products.

  • Controls Networking - Implements new and improved technologies and methods capable of transferring information from multiple inputs either within a local production process or into databases to link machines together or to analyze the process for overall operation enhancements.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.

  • Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

  • Cultivates innovation - Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • 5 years of significant relevant work experience required, including manufacturing or manufacturing plant experience and leadership of a large project or multiple projects.

  • Leads strategy to implement MES I 4.0 Standardization globally across Cummins-Meritor

  • Leads Smart Factory implementation and OES

  • Develops and leads OPEX training and standardization and tracking matrix

  • Experience in Manufacturing Preferred

  • Experience working with multiple manufacturing sites desired

  • Industry 4.0 experience

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range is $114,400-171,600.00. Pay rate will commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
