This is an exciting opportunity in Fresno& Bakersfield, CA for an ApplicationEngineer - Customer Engineering
California presents a unique opportunity with the need to replace (repowering) older Cummins and non-Cummins high-emission output engines by fitting newer Cummins engines into existing equipment. This type of integration will challenge an individual knowledge as you design, oversee the installation and then perform validation testing to unsure this meets ours specifications as well as the customer. You’ll work as part of a larger team of engineers and project management to reach our main goal to drive to a cleaner environment one machine at a time.
As an Application Engineer, you’ll apply your specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas.
Support projects in the identification and understanding of client requirements to develop technical specifications, implement designs, and deliver high performance, low-cost equipment and system results integrated with customers’ solutions.
Interfaceswith sales and marketing teams to design and deliver client solutions.
Developsand delivers training on client applications.
Appliestechnical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.
Providestechnical direction for a project or a project team.
Participatesas a key contributor and is accountable for project success.
Influencesat department or program management level.
Proposesinnovative initiatives and projects.
Troubleshootscomplex problems and recommends appropriate actions.
Thisposition will primarily support Repower work along with some work supportingour Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
This position is a Customer facing role where soft skills are a great attribute
Product Knowledge – Possess a good working knowledge of power train systems, hydraulic systems, cooling system design and electrical integration; ability to apply this knowledge to Automotive and Industrial markets.
Cross-Functional Design Review - Able to carry out and coordinate a cross-functional design review at an advanced level and in a wide range of work situations without guidance. Able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review on a limited basis.
Product Validation - Includes the ability to install, setup, calibrate, and operate the equipment associated with testing in accordance with standard procedures and customer requirement. Is expected to understand the concepts of rating engines and driven components such as cooling systems, alternators, etc., and be able to use this knowledge to determine the rating of a product under various conditions.
Analyze Issues - Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, University, or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
3 to 5 years relevant (Diesel/Design) experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project
This position will support the Central California territory and will be located out of the Fresno or Bakersfield branches within that territory.

- Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
