This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, MN for an Electronic Controls - Technical Advisor
Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.
Applies highly specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices to assigned tasks to develop and support activities in the area of electrical & electronics engineering.
Lead large or multiple engineering projects.Performs as the local technical expert for one or more engineering specialties.
Solves complex problems impacting multiple projects.
Communicates with and influences key external stakeholders and business leaders.
Drives and manages system level requirements for projects or programs.
Makes critical program-related decisions. Collaborates with industry peers within their discipline.
Advances the state of the practice for the technical discipline.
Sets strategic direction for a program or technical discipline.
Advises and transfers knowledge of engineering discipline; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.
Advises leaders for resolution of complex business problems.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree in Engineering required
Significant level of relevant work experience required. Ten or more years’ experience in a similar discipline expected.
Lead electrical system design and integration, drive architecture and system engineering practices, tune controls and deliver electrical performance, understand and apply codes and standards, support commissioning, troubleshoot electrical performance issues, and contribute in a large cross-functional VPI and PPT projects with team members in different locations. The key responsibilities and skills will include:
Lead the development, implementation and support of commercial genset and distributed generation products
Provide expertise in power systems optimization and electrification, including renewable resource and battery storage integration
Closely work with design teams, customers, project developers, and other commissioning agents to deliver superior products and solutions
Coach and guide team members
Understand and apply regulatory requirements that affect electrical performance
Author Engineering Standard Work (ESW) documents, including Engineering Tests and Design Practices
Experience in measurement and analysis of electrical parameters
Solid experience in Control Theory, embedded systems, and power systems.
Experience in simulation and modeling and the use of tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PowerFactory, PSSE, and/or ETAP
Working knowledge or training in High Voltage circuits is a plus
Prior experience in genset controller tuning, power system commissioning is a plus
Knowledge of Cummins genset controllers and third party genset controllers is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
