This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, Minnesota for a Maintenance Technician III – Electrician – 2nd Shift.

The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building is maintained. Electrical safety and LOTO is a primary focus.

  • Test cell and load bank maintenance.

  • Production line maintenance.

  • Produces quality work by following defined departmental procedures and/or process documentation

  • Repairs, maintains, and improves equipment, facilities, and systems where knowledge of mechanics, electronics, electro-mechanical wiring diagrams, schematics, and ladder logic is required

  • Provides documentation of work performed utilizing Maximo software to identify problems and partners with manufacturing engineer to determine root cause to design solution

  • Observes and complies with Cummins safety policies and utilizes company’s LOTO policy to eliminate or minimize risk when repairing machines where hazardous voltages or any other potential hazards exist

  • Performs other miscellaneous maintenance jobs within facility

  • Participates actively in the identification of ways in which to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development

  • Participates in all workplace safety and environmental policies and procedures by wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), keeping work area safe and clean using 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), completing annual safety training, and reporting any risks or hazards

Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Licensed electrician, a two year technical college degree and three years relevant experience (or) licensed electrician and 8 years relevant experience.

  • A minimum score of 80 on the Ramsey maintenance exam and 70 on the Maintenance electrical exam.

  • Candidate will be interviewed as part of the hiring process and must possess good verbal communication skills.

  • Preference given to demonstrated electrical equipment trouble shooting capabilities and multi voltage experience.

  • Must be willing to advance schooling with some VFD and PLC training.

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

  • Basic Mechanical knowledge

  • Good judgement.

  • Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to read blueprints, spec sheets, drawings, and wiring diagram schematics.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills to manage workload to maximize productivity and efficiency

  • Interaction—Communicates with others in a constructive manner

  • Coping—Maintains a mature problem-solving attitude while dealing with interpersonal conflict or time demands

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong technical problem solving skills

  • Post Offer Employment Test – Maintenance Protocol

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate $26.80/hour with step progression to $32.00/hour $0.70/hour shift premium. Additional $1.15/hour premium for Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
