This is an exciting opportunity, based out of Galesburg/Kalamazoo, MI for a Service Information Technical Writer

  • (Hybrid/Remote) - This role may require some periodic on-site work, as well as working remotely_ *

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop new service information from design documentation and information provided by subject matter experts in the engineering and service functions.

  • Integrate relevant information into well written text instructions, functional descriptions, and operation and service procedures with illustrating graphics.

  • Represent Service Information on new product introduction and current product support teams.

  • Develop and manage a resource plan, project schedule and work plan for multiple and complex projects.

  • Maintain and communicate status for all active projects.

  • Assist in maintaining a departmental schedule and resource assignments as projects and organizational priorities shift.

  • Lead activities with regional technical writer liaisons to complete regional service information packages.

  • Lead improvement activities that reduce translation cost and complexity and improve content quality.

  • Assist / coach Technical Writers with project schedule development and execution.

  • Audit Content Developers information for content quality and accuracy.

  • Resolve day-to-day service information problems and customer inquiries.

  • Maintain the library of product support information as products change.

  • Write for re-use, using XML authoring system.

  • Write effectively with translations in mind.

  • Develop and maintain up to date work procedures.

  • Develops high-quality service information on Cummins products and systems.

  • Utilize Adobe FrameMaker to develop new and update existing service literature

  • Help develop service training materials including CBTs, Presentations and Service Videos

  • Publish documents using Adobe Experience Manager and the Adobe ML Documentation Add-on

  • Supervise a team of contractors in supporting technical communication and training development

  • Support training record integration with warranty records (system integration)

  • Support the field in training initiatives to achieve yearly revenue goals

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a relevant discipline area is required

  • Experience with Adobe products (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, University, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in relevant disciplines is required.
