Strategy Director - Hydrogen & Electrochemistry
We are looking for a talented Strategy Director to join our Growth Office , specializing in driving innovation for Cummins’ in the Hydrogen industry. The role is based in Germany and is open to candidates based remotely across the country.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Leads Growth Office projects that (a) Use internal and external engagement to identify new growth opportunities, operational efficiency improvements and potential disruptions to CMI business, (b) Develop strategic frameworks to evaluate such opportunities and create optionality for CMI, and, (c) foster disciplined innovation process across Cummins to manage the growth ideas that do not fit other defined Cummins processes.
This position will lead, amongst others, framing of strategic frameworks and assessment of opportunities related to electrification and hydrogen energy systems.
Identifies major strategic opportunities for CMI that affect the industry.
Engages with external entities as well as the internal organization to help develop focus areas for ideas that (a) are potential growth opportunities for Cummins that may lead to creation of a new business venture, such as a joint venture, equity alliance, acquisition, etc. (b) offer significant efficiency improvements (efficiency, quality, cost) over existing operational processes, or, (c) maybe potential disruption to Cummins business due to technology, policy or other macro-trends and help develop solutions.
Guides strategic framework development for evaluation of identified opportunities using Design Thinking guidelines.
Networks broadly across the organization to help identify experts and resources for such evaluation.
Helps apply strategic frameworks to analyze opportunities to develop insights and solutions to support strategic business decisions.
Fosters and promotes disciplined internal innovation process for such ideas that do not fit in existing core business processes.
Provides the face of CMI with external organizations to gather information and coordinate the evaluation.
Works closely with CMI leadership and other key internal constituencies.
Communicates complex strategy topics clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences through both written and oral communication.
Drives continuous improvement for the function to drive consistency and sustainability.
Helps determine incoming project prioritization and staffing assignments.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Masters degree in Business Administration or equivalent degree preferred
The ideal candidate will bring multi-year prior experience in energy conversion and energy systems, in particular hydrogen and/or electric infrastructure and/or electrochemistry related to fuel cells/electrolyzers and/or batteries.
The candidate should bring demonstrated ability to work seamlessly across multiple business units/entities to progress strategic alignment.
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or the physical sciences is preferred, in addition to a Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent post-graduate training/experience.
Fluency in German and English required
