DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Product Owner II to join our team in Systems/Information Technology in Indianapolis, IN.

  • Ensure Technical and Conceptual Integrity You'll maintain the quality and coherence of product features, ensuring they meet both user expectations and technical standards.

  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration Acting as a bridge between business, engineering, and architecture teams, you'll align priorities and facilitate seamless execution across functions.

  • Promote Lean-Agile Thinking By applying Lean-Agile principles, you'll help the organization respond quickly to change, improve time-to-market, and support continuous improvement.

  • Lead with Influence, Not Authority You'll build consensus and drive alignment across matrixed teams, influencing decisions and gaining support without relying on formal reporting lines.

  • Deliver Measurable Business Value Through effective backlog management and strategic prioritization, you'll ensure that every iteration contributes meaningfully to the organization’s mission and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Stakeholder Alignment & Relationship Building Ability to anticipate, balance, and manage the needs of diverse stakeholders—internal and external—while maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.

  • Business Acumen & Market Awareness Deep understanding of business strategy, market dynamics, and customer needs to align product decisions with organizational goals and deliver competitive solutions.

  • Effective Communication Skills Proficiency in tailoring messages for different audiences, ensuring clarity, transparency, and engagement across all levels of the organization.

  • Customer-Centric Mindset Commitment to understanding customer personas, pain points, and feedback to drive product decisions that create meaningful value.

  • Global & Systems Thinking Ability to approach problems with a broad, interconnected perspective—considering global trends, cross-functional impacts, and long-term system behavior.

  • Conflict Resolution & Influence Skills to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively, and to influence decisions across teams without relying on formal authority.

  • Agile & SAFe Expertise Strong grasp of Lean-Agile principles, SAFe practices, and Agile ceremonies to lead high-performing teams and ensure continuous delivery of value.

  • Portfolio & Backlog Management Experience with Lean Portfolio Management, WSJF prioritization, and backlog refinement to optimize investment decisions and maintain a healthy flow of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required.

  • SAFe® Product Owner/Agile Product Manager (POPM) certification preferred.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Business knowledge with knowledge and practical experience of the Lean methodology, principles and tools are preferred.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment is preferred.

  • Experience with SAP is preferred/beneficial.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of Cummins internal IT and Sox Controls is desired.

  • This position will be engaged in regulatory and compliance solutions to support CSSNA and DBU business teams.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
