This is anexciting opportunity in Milpitas, CA for a Senior Fabricator.

Cummins ElectrifiedPower - California is where you can work on or support industry leadingengineering projects.

TheSenior Fabricator analyzes and manufactures complex components using machine tool equipment and has the skill set in all aspects of fabrication (layout, cutting, welding, grinding, etc.) to complete welding projects from start to finish for large and/or complex jobs, ensuring they are in accordance to the customer’s specifications as well as industry standards. Cuts, bends, threads and installs tubing or piping. Typical fabrication projects include structural support bases (frames), pipe spools and metal control buildings. The Senior Fabricator learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. May work independently and instruct or coach others.

  • Fully proficient setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to machine parts to specifications.

  • Oversees medium to large-complex projects

  • Reviews and interpret project drawings and other written instructions to perform task at hand

  • Creates a list of required materials and material cut list

  • Plans and develops layouts for work applying knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, product design, effects of heat, and allowance for curvature and thickness of metal.

  • Details the location and sequence of cutting, drilling, and welding operations, using instruments: compass, protractor, dividers and ruler.

  • Marks curves, lines, holes, dimensions, and welding symbols onto work piece, using scribes, soapstone and punches.

  • Independently sets up and operates welding machines.

  • Sets up welding equipment and welds parts using GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW. Includes welding done by hand or machine on sheet steel, structural members, pipe or tubing.

  • Installs tubing or piping per isometric drawings.

  • Provides direction for Level I and II Fabricators to complete the job

  • Ensures all components are properly welded

  • Provides mentoring and skill training to employees as required

  • Motivates and maintains moral of fabricators to improve quality and meet goals

  • Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned by management

  • Stop work and immediately report any major injury hazards.

  • Report any work-related injury, illness, incident or hazard.

  • Comply with HSE standards, policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Promote interdependence by looking out for one another.

  • Correct hazards within your control and capabilities.

  • Recognize how your work may impact the environment and work to minimize the negative impact.

  • Provide feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system.

Position requires 5 years experience in fabrication role

Some automotive experience preferred

AA or trade school certificate required

Proficiency with reading blueprints, and other engineering documentation
