BMS Integration Engineer

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Accelera by Cummins BMS team at the start of projects which will serve as basis for the new family of batteries using cells from a joint development with industry giants. Working in the BMS team will expose you to all areas of electric vehicles. The tasks involve all stages of development cycle, from component requirements creation all the way to vehicle validation. Being self-motivated, possessing the ability to challenge norms, having a strategic mindset and robust knowledge of Functional Safety will be essential attributes for the successful candidate. We are looking for a talented BMS Integration Engineer to join our team in Milton Keynes.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Investigating and analysing BMS issues for root causes.

  • Issuing the appropriate documentation for resolution and requirements updates

  • Supporting track and road tests.

  • Verifying impacts of vehicle and diagnostic tools updates.

  • Coordinating daily activities to ensure integration of the BMS with vehicle according to project milestones.

  • Ensuring that the BMS design is working in context and aligned with vehicle and programme context, assumptions and requirements.

  • Coordinating and run in vehicle BMS test.

  • Defining interface requirements between BMS and Vehicle network.

  • Defining and refining requirements regarding hand shakes, timing, Battery reaction in vehicle.

  • Resolving cross functional issues across departments and business functions.

  • Escalating and communicating issues and roadblocks and suggest solutions regarding BMS interface with powertrain and vehicle.

Leading fault finding and root cause investigation in bench tests.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required

  • Demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making

  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred

  • Experience of HV battery systems, BMS and electric vehicles.

  • Good communication skills is a must, as you will be the link between clients and our internal powertrain teams .

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
