Manufacturing Specialist, Electrical
We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our # NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Work with Design Engineers to understand manufacturing requirements for vehicle power systems, and provide input to improve ease-of-assembly and disassembly for servicing
Communicate design requirements to suppliers and fabricators, including adherence to company specifications and international standards (knowledge of international standards is an asset)
Help to fulfill internal orders, including managing the delivery schedule, prioritization, and inspection of suppliers’ systems, processes, materials, work in process, and final products before shipping
Work directly with skilled trades and hourly staff. Hands-on experience an asset.
Create test fixtures for wire harnesses and sub-assemblies.
Work with electronics printed circuit board vendors on design package manufacturing
Create inspection and audit records/reports in accordance to ISO-9001
Create Assembly Instructions for Production personnel.
Work with the Engineering & Quality departments to create new internal standards and SOW (Standard Operating Procedures)
Participate in technical customer audit and interpret customer specific requirements and standards
Lead Continuous Improvement projects to improve plant-wide efficiencies, reduce costs and reduce waste
Specify new manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tooling, and work-flows
Create test methods for validating new products
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Post-Secondary degree in Electrical, Industrial or related field of Engineering.
P.Eng certification or P.Eng in training.
Ability to read 2D and 3D drawings, and CAD skills (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, ePlan, Altium Designer)
Experience with high volume vehicle assembly (aerospace, automotive, rail, marine or off-road), including wiring harnesses, load cables, grounding & bonding, fusing, enclosures, sensors and instrumentation.
Experience auditing fabricators, conducting QC inspections, and creating reports
Experience with the following codes & standards: J-STD-001 Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies. IPC-A-610 REV D Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
Practical knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, DFA, 5S, SPC, Gauge R&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, HAZOP, DOE, 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why
Capable of working in a pro-active manner with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Ability to work independently or in a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Quick learner and adaptable, with high energy level and eager to learn
