Description
We are looking for a dynamic, and talented Corporate Counsel – Litigation to join our team specializing in managing litigation and related matters for our Filtration business headquartered in Nashville, TN. This role is designated hybrid, allowing you to work from your home office and requires up to 25% of travel.
Cummins Filtration is a global technology leader that designs, manufactures, and sells air, fuel, hydraulic and lube filtration, as well as chemical technology products for diesel and gas-powered equipment around the world. As Corporate Counsel - Litigation, you will provide legal advice on complex legal matters across a wide range of regions and/or functions.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Responsible for handling a variety of complex legal matters or projects across a wide range of businesses, regions and/or functions.
Recognized as a developing expert in an area of law, specialty, function, or geographic region; negotiates legal matters within the individual’s realm of responsibility
May be allocated responsibility to support in management of a relationship with a business unit, business segment, region, or function
Responsible for project and matter management with limited supervision; exercises independent judgment
Shares in management of outside counsel relationships
Acts as trusted advisor for mid to high level management; has strong grasp of business environment; effectively partners with clients to identify and design needed improvements; provides legal as well as practical advice within the appropriate business context; understands and manages client expectations
Assists in development of legal strategies for business
May influence or contribute to overall objectives and goals of organization
Provides support and leadership in legal function projects
May supervise and/or mentor one or more junior lawyers, paralegals, or administrative assistants
Demonstrates specialization proficiency in one or more areas of law, specialty or function; acts as a resource to others
Qualifications

Education, Licenses, Certifications
Degree in law
License to practice law in home jurisdiction
Experience
Significant relevant experience required.
Proactively identify and recommend litigation strategies to Chief Legal Officer and company leaders.
Recommend, build, and implement a scalable approach to litigation and related risk that balances legal risk with business impact. Promote evolution of risk management strategies consistent with company growth mindset.
Serve as lead in-house counsel for all disputes and litigation, respond to legal processes including subpoenas; Lead or support internal investigations.
Attending court appearances, as appropriate, including significant hearings, trials, mediations, and settlement conferences.
Serve as a strategic legal partner to the business, providing periodic reports on substantive or material developments in pending disputes.
Internally overseeing discovery process, which includes reviewing discovery requests and developing strategy and responses, collecting and producing internal documents, coordinating e-discovery, and interviewing information custodians and/or fact witnesses.
Engage and maintain relationships with preferred counsel. Design and implement strategies for best approaches to litigation with maximum efficiency while prioritizing the best interests of the client.
Partner with compliance and governance professionals to assist in the design and implementation of appropriate controls and to promote and build culture consistent with "tone at the top."
Offer general counseling and serve as the escalation point for a wide variety of legal matters, including but not limited to quality, contract law, regulatory risk and trade compliance issues, data privacy or other corporate matters.
Assist with due diligence from a litigation lens. Partner with the business to implement lessons learned.
May train and supervise attorneys, paralegals and consultants; may be involved in hiring, developing and retaining talent within the Legal function.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range: $127,500-$212,500
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
