The Atmus Legal, Ethics & Compliance function, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, provides a full range of legal and advisory services in support of this mission. This is an exciting opportunity that is based in Nashville, Tennessee. The role is designated hybrid and will be required to be in the office 2 days per week; the role requires travel of 10% overall

As Director, Ethics & Compliance , you will lead the Global Ethics and Compliance efforts on behalf of the Filtration business by building a global risk framework and providing legal advice that enables the businesses to comply with applicable internal and external rules and regulations.

In this role, the Director, Ethics & Compliance will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsible for developing ethics and compliance strategies that support the Code of Business Conduct to reduce ethical and reputational risks to Cummins

  • Develops strategic policies and procedures for the ethics and compliance function

  • Directs major ethics and compliance initiatives including the compliance improvements with the businesses and functions

  • Partners with the business to identify major ethics and compliance risks and develop strategic plans

  • Directs multiple ethics and compliance projects across multiple business units or functions

  • Partners with global teams to strengthen the compliance community across countries and business units

  • Works closely with senior leadership and key internal or external constituents

  • Communicates complex compliance topics clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences through both written and oral communication

Regulatory Compliance - Champions compliance with environmental regulatory requirements imposed on industry by local, state, provincial, national, and international organizations including air emissions, waste water discharges, natural resource consumption, waste generation, spill prevention and reporting, and emergency response.

Compliance Program Management - Develops and documents compliance programs incorporating the five strategic elements of a world-class compliance program (tone at the top, risk assessment, training and communication, oversight, and reporting) to ensure that Cummins stays in compliance and reduce risks for Cummins and its shareholders.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required

  • JD preferred

Experience

  • 10 years of experience in ethics and compliance, and /or privacy legal experience in law firm, government, in-house or a combination

  • Professional experience in a relevant field (e.g., Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Audit/Forensic, Risk Management) is preferred

  • Previous supervisory experience of a global team

  • Developing and leading implementation of the corporate ethics, compliance strategy as well as leading a fit-for-market global compliance program, including policy development, code of conduct implementation, anti-corruption initiatives, and risk assessments resulting in programmatic and risk-driven strategies for specific regions.

  • Establishing and supporting effective business processes and controls to ensure the organization is satisfying its regulatory and compliance obligations including remediating any identified gaps in a timely fashion.

  • Hire, develop, train, and manage a global team of ethics, compliance professionals.

  • Working collaboratively with Internal Audit, Legal, HR and other stakeholders to recommend and/or drive process improvements, including the Company’s ability to detect and prevent compliance failures.

  • Lead the implementation of an online and face-to-face training program for employees, JVs partners and third parties.

  • Closely supporting business and functional leaders globally and driving leadership communication tools to reinforce tone at the top and to inform employees and other relevant stakeholders about ethics and compliance initiatives and high-risk areas of compliance.

  • Lead third party risk management and compliance initiatives globally, working closely with other key stakeholders, the Legal function, distribution partners and the business units.

  • Ensure compliance with the global code of conduct and support internal investigations on bribery and other major compliance risks as a subject matter expert, supporting and providing direction for the in-house or outsourced investigators, analyzing the results, and recommending mitigating and monitoring measures.

  • Work with the Legal function to monitor applicable laws, regulations and policies on anti-bribery, competition, conflicts of interest, money laundering, and human rights running gap analysis and risk assessments, reviewing data and trends, internal and external, to drive program focus and initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $127,500-$212,500. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Cummins and E-verify
