Lead Business & Data Architect

We are looking for a talented Lead Business & Data Architect to join our team. Preferred location is Nashville TN. (Hybrid), but open to remote

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsible for assessing, defining and championing the IT architecture strategies, principles, policies and standards in alignment with Cummins IT strategy and governing their use; coordinates with project teams to create, document, assess and/or validate the application and infrastructure architecture artifacts / designs for specific systems to meet Cummins security policies, governance, compliance and regulations and review the architecture artifacts with the stakeholders.

  • Participates as a change agent to drive strategic IT architecture direction - Cloud first, API first, DevOps , Agile etc.

  • Builds strong relationships with customers and peers across IT to effectively promote solution development using standard technologies.

  • Considers multiple, varied alternatives and recommends appropriate solutions based on cost/benefit analysis.

  • Collaborates with project teams to understand requested capabilities and recommends the right set of technologies to meet the needs.

  • Provides infrastructure capacity recommendations for new applications and systems.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Architecture System Design - Defines and develops architecture deliverables, artifacts and building blocks (e.g. conceptual models, logical models, physical network designs, etc.) by applying architecture principles through the use of an architecture development framework and methodology that enables the organization to transform its systems in a controlled manner in response to business needs.

  • Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and processes to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of negative events or to maximize the realization of positive events.

  • Scope Management - Manages a list of project deliverables (scope) using the recommended project management tools and processes to ensure that the project includes all the work required and only the work required to complete the project successfully.

  • Balances stakeholders - Anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business or a related subject required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. 3-6 years of experience.

  • Responsible for assessing, defining, and championing the IT architecture strategies, principles, policies, and standards in alignment with Cummins Filtration IT strategy and governing their use

  • Coordinate with project teams to create, document, assess and/or validate the application and infrastructure architecture artifacts / designs for specific systems to meet Cummins Filtration security policies, governance, compliance, and regulations and review the architecture artifacts with the stakeholders.

  • Lead projects for design, development and maintenance of a data and analytics platform.

  • Assess technology trends and direction providing guidance on how those trends will impact organization opportunities as well as risks

  • Develop technology architecture strategies based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.

  • Familiarity analyzing complex business systems, industry requirements, and/or data regulations

  • Design and development for a Big Data platform using open source and third-party tools preferred

  • Background in processing and managing large data sets preferred

  • Clustered compute cloud-based implementation experience preferred

  • Experience with IoT technology preferred

  • Experience with Scaled Agile and DevSecOps is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
