This is an exciting opportunity in Nashville, Tennessee for a North America Payroll Manager. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects. This role oversees US and Canada payroll teams and is responsible for building Functional Excellence within the payroll department.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Manages payroll operations responsible for the processing and auditing of multiple payroll cycles for a specific region.

  • Develops processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll payments and reporting in alignment with applicable policies, legislation and internal controls procedures and monitors compliance.

  • Develops and manages procedures for the preparation, documentation and disbursement of payroll checks, taxes, accounting transactions and employee benefit payments; generates information for general ledger postings.

  • Manages the operational relationship with outside payroll service providers; manages system changes, upgrades, or government mandated changes to payroll.

  • Manages accurate and timely processing of year-end activities, including coordination with payroll services providers.

  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of payroll process documentation.

  • Ensures payroll processing and accounting activities comply with internal and external audit requirements, and coordinates responses to auditor inquiries.

  • Ensures that the data necessary for the filing of payroll-related tax reporting and miscellaneous withholding forms is gathered and submitted in a timely manner with the highest level of accuracy.

  • Ensures adequate internal controls on payroll systems and keeps current with compliance on new and existing tax and other payroll related legislation.

  • Leads the development of regional financial and operational plans and monitors performance.

  • Coaches and mentors human resources team members; manages staff by assigning work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

Compensation and Benefits Administration - Translates Cummins plan design, statutory and tax requirements in the communication and delivery of compensation and benefit programs.

Payroll Administration - Translates company policies, tax and legislative requirements in the delivery of accurate and timely employee payments and reporting; ensures compliance with applicable regulations and internal control procedures.

Mobility Administration - Translates applicable policies, taxation, immigration laws, local legislation and internal controls procedures in the delivery of programs focused on the seamless movement of talent.

Ensures accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.

Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

Demonstrates self-awareness - Using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses.

Other required skills:

  • Strong technical skills in SAP.

  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to influence change, motivate teams, and solution focus.

  • Payroll compliance expertise for US and Canada.

Experience

  • Five to eight years of experience in payroll with minimum three years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in managing large teams in a global, matrix organization.

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll processes and systems.

  • Previous exposure to payroll systems implementation highly preferred.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
