Job Summary

Under minimal supervision and in accordance with Cummins Delegation of Authority Policy, plans and establishes production schedules to meet customer demand. Develops production schedules in accordance with sales forecast, plant and employee capacity, and new business opportunities. Works to align and optimize raw material (RM) stocking strategies with Material Planners, Work In Process (WIP) with Operations, and Finished Goods (FG) stocking strategies with Materials and Customer Service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support and partner with shop operations to meet the needs of the customer by the development of daily shop floor schedule while driving continuous improvement and meet the schedule attainment goals.

  • Review customer requirements, plan and track orders from sales to shipping. Maintain work orders, WIP, and finished goods to ensure to meet the On Time Delivery goals of the manufacturing plant.

  • Determine causes for delivery/schedule attainment misses and provide timely feedback and action plans.

  • Communicate production plan to Management, Sales, Operations, and Buyers or other internal functions. Communicate whenever there is raw material and resource issues. Aid in resolving such issues to meet the production schedule in a timely manner.

  • Ensure there is sufficient on hand raw materials, and resources to meet the production schedule by running shortage reports daily and working through Exception messages within Oracle.

  • Advises management of anticipated problems, material shortages, engineering changes and/or equipment failures or major non-conformance of product that might affect the production schedule.

  • Manage the Master Production Plan in Oracle to keep production load balanced with planned capacity.

  • Manage inventory (work in process/finished goods) through support of Product Change Control management (release of new products / changes to existing ones) in a timely fashion.

  • Continue developing skills and job awareness training through Accenture Supply Chain Academy curriculum.

​​Detailed Capacity Planning​ - ​Converts and translates the Master Production Schedule into detailed resource requirements resulting in optimized internal capacity utilization and identified constraints; negotiates changes to the schedule or available resources when demand exceeds demonstrated or installed capacity with a focus on meeting Available-to-Promise (ATP) dates; considers different options such as overtime, adding a shift or headcount, etc. to increase capacity during periods of constraint.

Master Supply Scheduling - Establishes and maintains a valid Master Production Schedule for a family of products, which meets customer’s expectations and requirements while maximizing operational efficiency; validates procurement scheduling, production scheduling, and replenishment planning are aligned to manufacturing and assembly assets for conversion.

Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.

​Materials Planning System Utilization - ​Uses the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis; occasionally refers to adhoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc. in performing problem solving, while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool in day-to-day operations.

​Part Change Control Management - Evaluates and implements engineering change request (obsolescence, supersessions, new part release, etc.) to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

​Plan for Every Part (PFEP) - Uses PFEP in planning, designing, and management of systems and processes within a facility to ensure delivery of right part at the right time in the right quantity to the right place, which in turn guarantees smooth operations; applies PFEP principles on the end to end supply chain with particular attention to the relationships between master data management, materials planning parameters, engineered material flows, transport management, and warehouse management.

Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) - Converts the Demand Plan and Master Supply Plan into critical resource (labor, machine, & materials) requirements resulting in negotiations and/or changes to the plan or available resources to balance supply and demand; focuses on longer term resource planning, not detailed.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. College, University or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Good computer skills, including knowledge of Oracle system, Microsoft Office Suite, SOMS, EASE, IQR, PDM and Discoverer.


Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience in an equivalent field such as materials planning, production scheduling, manufacturing, or inventory control.

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
