This is an exciting opportunity in New Hudson, MI for a Quality Engineer.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Receive quality concerns from customers or other sources in the field and gather all necessary information.

  • Provide rapid response to satisfy customer’s immediate needs for replacement parts.

  • Communicate any actions taken for short term resolution to customer and account team.

  • Launch full investigation into quality escapes.

  • Work with internal departments and suppliers to find root cause and determine corrective action.

  • Evaluate service issues and determine the type of report to initiate such as Corrective Action Reports (CAR), Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR), and Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMR)

  • Act as a liaison with Engineering Department on design-related issues that are affecting product quality.

  • Enhance support of our production assemblers by answering quality-related questions.

  • Promote a sense of urgency for quality issues through the entire value stream.

  • Visit suppliers to continuously improve incoming quality.

  • Visit customers in the field as part of quality investigations and provide an outstanding service support experience.

  • Work with Operations, Service, Procurement, and Corporate Quality to develop long term strategies.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Solid analytical skills.

  • Critical thinking and investigative skills.

  • Creative problem solving, results-oriented, proactive, organized, and calm under pressure.

  • Proficient with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel and Access

  • Ability to read engineering drawings or component parts and full assemblies. Understanding of GD&T.

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, requiring minimal direct supervision

  • Highly organized, able to prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts

  • Persistent, tenacious, and assertive, without being abrasive or aggressive

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent degree) in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required.

  • 3-5 years as a Service Support Specialist, Quality Engineer, or equivalent.

  • Background in working with a variety of suppliers on quality issues.

  • Proven experience in a flexible, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with multiple quality systems tools and the knowledge of when and how to use each type.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary commensurate with experience.
