About the role
Reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll be based in our busy Pooraka workshop leading our team of experienced workshop technicians and apprentices across a wide variety of engines spanning on-highway and some agriculture, industrial and mining equipment. This key leadership role will be responsible for delivering legendary levels of customer service to our highly valued and diverse customer base of OEM’s and end users in the region.
Supervision of team leaders, workshop supervisors, technicians and apprentices
Schedule technician work, clearly and concisely communicating repair plans and directions to technicians
Manage all branch apprentices, provide coaching and feedback to the wider team providing performance reviews and opportunities for professional growth
Coordination and review of apprentices/workshop daily duties, approve leave, participate in performance management processes and conducts weekly/daily toolbox talks
Direct responsibility in managing Team Leaders, provides data/input for wage/performance reviews
Support Team Leaders to coordinate each repair event, authorizing work scope and parts prior to requisitioning parts, labour and other repair event associated costs, providing guidance and advice
Direct customer liaison and support, developing strong relationships with our customers, providing outstanding customer service and driving repeat work
Participate in repair strategy and coordinate parts support to the shop floor
Ensure accurate quoting and warranty support
Participate in continuous improvement activities by reviewing, changing, and improving processes
Do every task safely, every day
Relevant trade qualification (Light Automotive, Heavy Vehicle)
Have a Cert in Frontline Management or other leadership qualification
Solid leadership attributes and experience, with a proven track record in workshop supervision of medium to large teams
Have a passion for the engagement and development of teams
Experiencing supervisor / leading apprentices
Have worked in a high safety environment with a strong ethics base
Ability to comply with policies and procedures, imbedding systems and changes in procedures as required
Possess strong technical knowledge of premium heavy duty diesel engines
First hand exposure to Cummins products would be very highly regarded
