We are looking for a talented HSE Technician 3rd Shift to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Engine Business Segment in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Provides technical support on health, safety and environmental to production and site personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader. Assists in the review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.

  • Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties.

  • Builds an understanding of corporate driven HSE initiatives, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Build an understanding of and applies HSE culture ensuring it is integral to processes.

  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate recordkeeping standards in line with corporate data protection and retention requirements.

  • Follows all applicable standard work, process documentation and quality procedures.

  • Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.

  • Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.

  • Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.

  • Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • College, University or equivalent degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, or Sustainability preferred.

Experience

  • Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Responsibilities

  • Assists in communicating HSE initiatives to site personnel under the guidance of their direct manager.

  • Provide support to site personnel under the guidance of their direct manager. Have general knowledge of the HSE management systems.

  • Conduct HSE inspections and light maintenance activities outdoors year round.

  • Responsible for Wastewater Treatment System monitoring.

  • Plan

  • Complete continuous training requirements.

  • Do

  • Conduct training sessions for HSE topics (i.e. LOTO awareness/authorized, PPE use, HSEMS system, Spill Response, Ergonomic basics, etc.)

  • Participate in Emergency response actions as HSE liaison.

  • Initiate incident investigation in 3rd shift

  • Check/Act

  • Conduct HSE focus audits/inspections.

  • Conduct IH sampling as planned.

  • Wastewater Treatment monitoring, able to troubleshoot basic issues and understand when the issue requires escalation.

  • Certifications

  • Basic use of computer and software programs (excel, word, power point)

  • DOT/RCRA certification desirable

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
