We are looking for a talented Mechanical Technician – R&D facility to join our team in Scoresby.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Repowering vehicles for development, testing and analysis

  • Facilitating vehicle and engine dyno testing for critical validation activities

  • Perform metal fabrication tasks to create tailored parts.

  • Construct wiring looms using various connectors and components.

  • Work with performance engineers to develop measurement techniques.

  • Aid in test and teardown procedures so reports can be completed.

  • Document test results for technical reports.

  • Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering and tracking.

  • Participate in the maintenance of quality procedures.

  • Participate in Cummins product and technical / engineering training programs.

  • Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analysis and perform some data analysis.

  • Demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks as they become evident.

  • Engage in continuous learning to be prepared for changing work demands.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Possess a drive for results - be action oriented, taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Be able to plan and manage complex integration projects requiring custom made parts.

  • Be an innovate thinker, passionate about new engine technology and products

  • Be a strong communicator, able to develop relationships with internal teams and external customers

  • Relevant mechanical trade qualifications as a Heavy or Light Vehicle Mechanic (to Australian standards).

  • Electrical wiring and electrical loom making is preferred but not essential

  • Metal fabrication, welding, TIG and MIG is preferred but not essential

  • Strong health, safety and environment focus

  • Be highly autonomous and be able to adjust work priorities in order to meet demands

  • Experience with Cummins engines or other HHP Diesel Engines would be highly regarded

  • Ability to utilise measurement and calibration instruments would be highly regarded

  • Strong diagnostic and IT capabilities

  • Strong computer skills are highly desirable.
