DESCRIPTION

Builds, repairs, and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Performs tests in accordance with set test methods and works with relevant engineering functions to develop and execute testing. Drives continuous improvement in test setup and testing methods. Aids in analysis of test data.

Works with performance engineers to develop measurement techniques; manages/leads test system and test article issue resolution process; manages

system teardown consensus reviews, including data analysis, test and teardown reports.

Participates in and leads Failure Mode Effects Analysis; performs data analysis, documents systems tests and calibration reviews in technical reports;

presents test finding; prepares problem resolution Information for Failure Incident Reporting Group meetings; participates in problem solving teams.

Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering and tracking.

Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.

Develops and conducts training programs.

Demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks as they become evident; initiates, develops,

leads and participates in improvement projects.

Manages own work and adjusts work priorities in order to meet the demands; participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action; plans and engages in continuous learning in order to be prepared for changing work demands.

Product Function Test System Design - Interprets test equipment specifications from test standards or lab customer requirements; selects and integrates appropriate equipment, instrumentation and software to control boundary conditions and collect measurement data; assesses capability of the lab equipment against the requirements and support infrastructure.

Test Setup and Configuration - Interprets test plan to determine optimal location and orientation within a test space in accordance with local safety and environmental requirements and fabricates required system with appropriate materials.

Test Article Build - Assembles test articles according to test requirements, including all necessary installation or accommodations for instrumentation, in a manner that allows the test articles to successfully undergo product functional test.

Preventative and Predictive Maintenance - Interprets machine and tool maintenance records and data to develop and execute preventative and predictive management strategies to drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing process.

Data Quality - Identifies, understands and corrects flaws in data that supports effective information governance across operational business processes and decision making.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field. Must pass all related testing.

Experience:

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Department of Labor Certification OR four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train others. Demonstrated mastery of the trade skillset. Knowledge of Cummins environment, work teams, equipment, and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Trades Associate Roles and Responsibilities

Key Stakeholders: Seymour Engine Plant, PSBU CPE Engineering, and PSBU EPS Engineering

*Note: this is a 2 nd shift position, primarily supporting QSK95 Production Test

Main Responsibilities:

  • Production Test Cells: Performance Support for troubleshooting

  • FPEPS: Production test cell performance specification updates in PPIF

  • Material Review: MR approval and communication for production test exemptions

  • PER: Plant Release processing and updates in PPIF for performance content

  • Communication with CPE engineering for troubleshooting and recurring issue resolution

  • New Rating/Engine Platform Test Integration: Support performance specification updates, NETS updates, data tracking as necessary with CPE engineering team

Secondary Responsibilities (Off shift support for QSK95 ME Team as necessary):

  • Assembly Line: structure/build issues (QE, ME and CQ)

  • Production Test Cells: hardware/mechanical related

  • Upfit Paint and Tag: structure/build issues (QE, ME and CQ)

  • Subassembly and Custom: structure/build issues (QE, ME and CQ)

  • Processing deviations and updating structure/item relationships as necessary for ease of build, or for technical content corrections as step 3 solutions.

  • Submitting engineering releases as above for step 6 solutions; or conferring with step 6 team on more complicated issues

  • Assist with fit check coordination as necessary

  • Shop Order Review

  • Approval of spec changes, and misc. compiling support regarding build compatibility and non-production phase builds

  • Assist with implementation of new product/new options on the lines

  • Work with ME team on proc doc creation or amendment for new structure or updated structure
