Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity for Senior Product Design Engineers #IN699 in Seymour, IN.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Apply specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas and projects in the design, development, analysis, and release of products and subsystems through the product lifecycle.

  • Conduct cross-functional design reviews to determine solutions to resolve product issues.

  • Conduct extensive research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operations, and performance of equipment, components, and small systems.

  • Assist in providing technical direction for a project or project team and provide input on program-related decisions.

  • Develop and test models of alternate designs to assess sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, and necessity of modification utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Perform Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to verify designs, interpret results, drive decisions, and assess risk.

  • Logically organize complex cause-fail mode-effect relationships in control systems, appropriately identify risk areas, and identify and prioritize actions necessary to mitigate risk.

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) to interpret DVA results and use them to iteratively optimize the design of engine products.

  • Evaluate stakeholder needs and work cross-functionally to align requirements with identified stakeholder expectations.

  • Confer with other engineers and personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

  • Research, design, evaluate, install, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet stakeholder requirements.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying product structure rules such as item compatibilities, dependencies and relationships in order to develop and design saleable, manufacturable, and serviceable products.

  • Apply technical expertise on complex components and projects related to engine products including Concept Design/ Architecture.

  • Carry out and coordinate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) projects to a wide range of work situations and participate in leading new users in the basics.

Skills and Experience Required:

Experience to include:

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or related field and 1 year of experience as a Mechanical, Product, or Design Engineer, or related position.

  • Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Mechanical, Product, or Design Engineer, or related position.

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
