To help us drive this vision, we are searching for a Software Engineer, for our Powergen Business Unit.

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for delivery of high quality solutions to customers, providing customer facing engineering, system design and software development, manufacturing and testing support, and commissioning of Systems projects in the Asia Pacific region.

Working cross functionally within BU/assigned functional/business from time to time, the role will also be required to build effective rapport with internal teams.

Managing relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally, will be key to the success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Facing Engineering :

  • Support technical questions for system quoting as needed

  • Recommend solutions and value engineering opportunities as requested

  • Review new DMC system orders.

  • Consult with other engineers and experts as needed to provide the best possible design.

  • Consult with distributors and end customers to fully understand customer requirements.

  • Create submittal drawings and operational philosophy documents

  • Support project through the design, manufacturing and commissioning stages – will require interface with other regions

  • System Design and Software Development:

  • Create design drawings and documents to fulfill requirements for switchgear/DMC system requirements.

  • Create and release Bills of Materials

  • Create PLC & HMI programs as required to meet customer requirements

  • Create test documentation for manufacturing

  • Maintain high quality level for all technical documentation.

  • Provide support to vendors as required.

  • Own the project’s technical schedule.

  • Support vendor pricing discussions as required

  • Support creation of O&M manuals for each project

  • Manufacturing and Testing Support:

  • Assist with the identification of wiring issues

  • Find and resolve design issues found in manufacturing

  • Create as-built documentation to changes made in manufacturing related to design issues

  • Assist in the execution of the software test

  • Program protection relays, instruments and gateways

  • Identify fixes for software issues

  • Maintain a positive relationship with system assemblers and testers

  • Train the test engineers

  • Sign-off on QA documents for test completion

  • Support witness testing as required

  • Commissioning Support:

  • Assure interconnect from gensets to gear/DMC is correct

  • Assure interconnect from customer systems to gear/DMC is correct

  • Start-up system in a measured sequence assuring that no sub-systems are put at risk at each step

  • Support/Fix wiring issues as identified

  • Support/Fix software issues as identified

  • Support/Complete site test per operational philosophy

  • Train site personal on system operation

  • Update documentation as required

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 2 – 4 years’ of relevant experience is preferred

  • PLC/HMI Programming Skills or Experience

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral, combined with above average PC skills

  • Able to work independently, prioritize and develop initiatives.

  • Good knowledge on Power Generation industry will be an added advantage

Product Integration, Verification & Validation - Understands the basics of integration, verification, and validation concepts including component testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, test planning and documentation, and test environment.

Product Risk Management - Understands the basics of risk management concepts including risk identification, risk management planning, and risk monitoring. Should be able to produce lists of the product-specific risk items likely to compromise a project's success, and develop strategies to mitigate or control the risks.

Requirements Engineering - Understands the basic terminology used in requirements engineering.

Systems Definition And Design - Understands the basics of the system design process including requirements allocation and architecture definition, capability determination through system modeling and testing.

Concept Design/Architecture - Uses concept design/architecture appropriately as part of work. Understands the underlying principles, techniques and procedures. Performs/could perform concept design/architecture effectively.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering required.

Experience

Relevant work experience required (2-4 years)

Software development, manufacturing and testing support for custom DMC/Switchgear projects on time which exceeds customer expectations and supporting commissioning.

The candidate for this role will provide customer facing engineering, system design and software development, manufacturing and testing support, and commissioning of Systems projects in the Asia Pacific region. All systems will design and manufacture in Asia Pac and will require manufacturing support. Systems sold in the Asia Pac region will need Customer Facing Engineering and Commissioning.

Work break down is expected to be:

15% Customer Facing Engineering

40% Manufacturing & Test Support

10% Commissioning

Customer Facing Engineering :

Essential Qualification:
