We are looking for a talented 1st Shift Sr Facilities Technician - HVAC-Mechanical join our team specializing in FACILITIES for our BUSINESS SEGMENT, in Stoughton, WI .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Reads and interprets mechanical, HVAC and pneumatic sketches, drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Inspects and tests systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions. Discusses heating/cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.

  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatuses, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdown and correct the problem. Maintains, installs, and operates all equipment and systems related to all building energy systems including boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and air handling units.

  • Performs cross-functionally to make repairs within one’s capability. Performs mechanical repairs with and trains apprentices and other technicians.

  • Leads mechanical work and participates as an HVAC technician in improvement projects.

  • Utilizes software to track, assign, and prioritize reactive, planned, preventative and predictive mechanical and HVAC maintenance work, and building management system.

  • Maintains safe work habits and actions in all aspects of the daily task; evaluates reactive work for safety issues, plans projects so that safety is key, and reviews preventative work for any unforeseen items that may present safety hurdles. Follows manufacturer’s recommended preventative HVAC maintenance schedules and startup procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Skills

  • Facility Electrical Technical - Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs Electrical distribution systems, buss bars, breaker boxes, motors and other electrical equipment to enable the facility to operate properly with lights and electricity provided to the production activities.

  • Facilities Maintenance - Assesses the condition of the facility including its systems, structure, interiors, exteriors and grounds; manages facility operations and maintenance activities; develops and operates asset management systems for Preventative Maintenance's that uses criticality analysis, predictive tools and prioritization.

  • Emergency Preparedness - Plans, manages and supports the site’s emergency preparedness program; identifies risks and develops a risk management plan to address incidents such as power outage, flood, and fire; manages the maintenance of emergency systems for fire and flood protection; reports any system impairments.

  • Facility Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technical - Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs heating equipment, boilers, ventilations systems, chillers, cooling tower, air compressors and other mechanical equipment, in order to provide heating or cooling as needed to the facility, people and processes of producing products as needed.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

Must meet the minimum educational requirements upon completion of an apprenticeship or regional training program. Must pass all related testing.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Driven/Self-Motivated: Demonstrate drive and self-motivation to seek out improvement opportunities for both personal skill development and facility enhancement.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Willingness to provide support to the team and team members as needed.

  • Water Quality Experience: Proven experience in water quality testing, particularly in cooling tower and steam boiler systems.

  • Ability to collaborate with contracted services to ensure monthly testing requirements are met.

  • Maintenance Oversight: Capability to oversee preventative maintenance (PM) scheduling and service work conducted by contracted service providers.

  • Work Order Management: Capacity to efficiently address and manage campus work orders as they arise.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for effective data management and communication purposes.

  • Building Automation System Knowledge: Understanding of facility building automation system controls. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC-related issues.

  • Project Management: Willingness to take ownership of projects and ensure they are completed within specified timelines.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to effectively manage various tasks and responsibilities.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Equipment Operation: Previous experience operating forklifts and small equipment such as scissor lifts and snow removal equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
