We are looking for a talented student to join our team for our School To Work , Engineering in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

The Cummins-Meritor Cooperative Education Student who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The student works in support of the Rear Axle New Product Development department by applying their academic studies to the practical application of an on the job experience. The STW Student works under close supervision to learn about aspects of engineering that they can apply after graduation.

  • Supports project and Product Engineers and Designers with layouts and drawing modifications of existing components.

  • Provides engineering analysis for new or existing components and write engineering reports as required.

  • Support all aspects of engineering to meet customer requirements with focus on project timing, product design, test plans and prototype builds.

  • Provides hands-on support of component test and/or development in the laboratory.

  • Establish good working relationships with team members, outside suppliers, and various internal groups.

  • Semester project to be determined with supervisor and other activities required by supervisor.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Some programing skills to support local engineering tools development are required.

  • Demonstrated capability and knowledge of basic mathematics and sciences.

  • Experience with data analytic tools.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools preferred.

  • Ability to learn on the job in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work independently and within teams as needed.

  • Demonstrates written and oral communication skills, including presentation creation.

  • Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Education, Licenses, Certification

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Post-Secondary:

  • Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate from $19.25 and above, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
