We are looking for a talented student to join our team for our School To Work , Purchasing in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

The Cummins-Meritor Cooperative Education Student who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business management, Supply Chain, Data Analytics or other related fields. The primary role of the school-to-work - Purchasing is support the Indirect Purchasing team as needs on a multitude of programs, updating of procedures, working with cross-functional internal and external customers and suppliers. The student will, at the same time, gain real world experience and education in the field of material management and data analytics in a business-to-business environment.

  • Creating Request for Quote bid packages that support cost reduction activities.

  • Support any transition activities into Cummins processes.

  • Maintaining and updating Oracle purchase orders on a regular basis.

  • Researching and creating supplier add forms for new suppliers from around the globe.

  • Support the requisition process for cross-functional teams.

  • Support Indirect Team members as needed

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools preferred.

  • Ability to learn on the job in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work independently and within teams as needed.

  • Demonstrates written and oral communication skills, including presentation creation.

  • Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Education, Licenses, Certification

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business management, Supply Chain, Data Analytics or other related fields

  • Post-Secondary:

  • Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate of $17.60 - 25.30 is commensurate with year in school. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
