Resident Field Service Technician - Level II


Cummins Sales and Service – Western Canada is an exclusive distributor for Cummins Inc., the world’s largest independent manufacturer of diesel engines and a global leader in power generation technology. We are currently seeking 2 Resident Field Service Technicians for the North East BC region. Based in Chetwynd and reporting to the Service Manager in Grand Prairie branch, you will be responsible for providing top quality on site field service and repairs on all customer equipment and Cummins powered units.

Additional responsibilities are described below:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing all Cummins engine platforms

  • Utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work

  • Working closely with other technicians and customer service representatives

  • Providing excellent customer service to all Cummins customers

  • Participating in on call rotation and working overtime as required

  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Red Seal Journeyman qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanic is required

  • 2 years of engine repair experience in a mining environment is required

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract

  • Must be able to work from a field service truck in all weather conditions

  • A strong focus on customer service excellence and putting safety first in everything you do

  • Strong team player who is able to work unsupervised

  • Solid organization and communication skills

  • High Horse Power (HHP), and Natural Gas/dual fuel experience would be an asset.

  • Previous power generation experience in controls (AC/DC), PLC’s, switchgear paralleling equipment, and remote networks would be an asset

This position will work 14 days on 14 days off, 12 hour days, as per shift rotation. Please note that any future shift changes that may occur are made in accordance with the standing Collective Agreement.
