Resident Field Service Technician - Level II

The Grande Prairie Branch has an opening for a Resident Field Service Technician for the North Eastern BC Corridor . Residing in Fort St. John B.C., servicing the BC Peace Region and reporting to the Service Manager in Grande Prairie, you will be responsible for providing top quality on site field service and repairs on all customer equipment and Cummins powered units.

Additional responsibilities are described below:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing all Cummins engine platforms

  • Utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work

  • Working closely with other technicians and customer service representatives

  • Providing excellent customer service to all Cummins customers

  • Participating in on call rotation and working overtime as required

  • Travel to multiple sites using the service truck provided

  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Red Seal Journeyman qualification in Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport is required

  • 2 years of engine repair experience in a field and/or mining environment is required

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract

  • Must be able to work from a field service truck in all weather conditions

  • A strong focus on customer service excellence and putting safety first in everything you do

  • Strong team player who is able to work unsupervised

  • Solid organization and communication skills

  • High Horse Power (HHP), and Natural Gas/dual fuel experience would be an asset.

  • Previous power generation experience in controls (AC/DC), PLC’s, switchgear paralleling equipment, and remote networks would be an asset

This position will work 8 hour days, Monday to Friday Please note that any future shift changes that may occur are made in accordance with the standing Collective Agreement.
