Our Power Systems Segment is a global provider of high-speed high-horsepower engines and power generation equipment, including standby and prime power generator sets, alternators, switchgear and other components. Power Systems offers engines, power generation systems, components and services, and alternative-fuel electrical generators for use in residential standby, commercial industrial, mining, marine, rail, oil and gas, defence, data centres, telecom and healthcare applications and industries, to name a few.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially minded individual, with a background in engineering, looking for a challenging and rewarding experience in a high pace, dynamic, technical sales environment.

We are offering a 12-month placement program in Wellingborough where you are given an opportunity to contribute to our business, as part of a team, on real projects.

You will receive on the job training as well as taking part in a structured Training & Development Programmes designed to provide the skills and competencies required for future graduate roles.

As a Cummins placement you will have the opportunity to work as a member of the Greater Europe Power Systems team, supporting sales operations across a wide variety of countries in Europe and Russia.

This will include cross functional work across the Cummins providing you the chance to interact with our customer and distributors as well as other areas of the business, such as; marketing communications, product management, supply chain and engineering. In addition, you will also gain valuable experience of the considerations and complexities of a truly global company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Sales Management, Field Sales or Functional Excellence teams to identify and assess market opportunities, project planning, and competitive analysis.

  • Support the sales team in technical customer enquiries. Evaluating and disseminating information from our product and engineering teams.

  • Assist the sales team in their effort for creating and delivering qualified opportunities to sales representatives where appropriate.

  • Manage and control the flow of critical pieces of business information both within the company and with external customers. Such as equipment availability lists.

  • Support Sale Operations with sales analytics and reporting through utilization of Cummins tools and processes for the sales force, sales management and sales leadership.

  • Embrace the Company values and mission; represent and promote Cummins to the Customer internally and externally.

  • Assists in the pricing analysis and discount decision process. Supports the sales team in the entry and analysis of the Customer Relationship Management (Salesforce) and the Configure Price and Quote (CPQ) systems.

Required Skills, Qualification and Experience:

Completed or currently studying for College, university, or equivalent degree in Sales Operations / Business Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar required.

  • Willingness to grow and develop within the Cummins family.

  • Commercial acumen and sensitivity.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent IT skills to include Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Flexible and proactive attitude with a desire to learn and take on responsibilities.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Showing interest to expand their knowledge in technical areas such as: Emissions, Diesel / Gas Engines, Renewable energy and systems controls.

Qualifications

To be eligible for our work placement you must be a university student - with a related degree with good understating of engineering and with the commercial skills and strong interest in Sales Operations - who has a placement year option as part of their degree programme.

You will spend a year in a specific department to gain real experience in your subject area. You are supported by formal and informal training, and work on projects that add true value to the business.
