DESCRIPTION

Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on Generator or component at the customer site with minimal direction.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (Salt Lake City, UT).

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.

  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.

  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

(Entry):

  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.

  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.

  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Residency & Mobility Requirement : Must reside within 50 miles of the branch to ensure reliable response times. Service calls may extend well beyond this radius, requiring travel out of state depending on customer needs.

Operate and Navigate in Demanding Conditions : Safely operate a service truck with trailer in tow across varied terrain and in extreme Utah weather conditions(Heat, cold, snow, ice, terrain)

Independent Field Problem-Solving : Serve as a self-starter capable of diagnosing and addressing mechanical and electrical issues on-site with limited supervision. Demonstrates sound judgment and resourcefulness when resolving unexpected challenges.

Hands-On Engine & Power System Service : Perform preventative maintenance and repairs including oil changes, inspections, and adjustments on diesel engines, generators, and related systems. Engage directly with customers to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.

Flexible Schedule to Meet Customer Needs : Support customers by working days, evenings, weekends, rotating shifts, and extended hours as needed. Technicians may occasionally be assigned night shifts to meet operational demands.

Commitment to Safety : Consistently adhere to safety protocols and proper use of PPE, ensuring both personal safety and the safety of those around them in field environments.

Preferred Skills, Education & Experience

Technical experience with diesel engines, transfer switches, and generator systems strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to tow and maneuver service trailers; DOT medical card, valid driver’s license required.

Strong troubleshooting, mechanical, and electrical aptitude with proven ability to work independently in the field.

Timely strong reporting and documentation skills.

Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to represent the company professionally in the field.

DOT

  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire

  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

  • A current valid license is required for this role

  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

  • 3 years driving experience

  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Current relevant electrical certification

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Minimal level of workshop related experience required.

Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products

High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience

Compensation and Benefits Base

Salary rate commensurate with experience.
