Product Quality Manager产品质量经理


Key Responsibilities

Leads the Plant Product Quality Council process to improve quality, reduce warranty payments, and improve customer satisfaction across multiple plants or for a business unit.

Directs multiple teams that plan, track, and report on delivered quality and reliability of products or subsystems produced in a plant.

Ensures that all issues as reported through corrective action requests, supplier corrective action requests, or nonconforming materials reports are addressed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Solves highly complex quality issues as they are escalated.

Establishes processes and tools to improve functional excellence in the prevention of failures.

Networks with other Product Quality Council Leaders to understand trends within the organization and to solve cross-business unit and cross-functional quality challenges.

Identifies and coaches resources necessary to achieve long-term and short-term business goals.

Identifies and defines emerging or potential problems and prioritizes effective containment through work with product quality teams.

Identifies and works with functional areas to ensure that adequate resources are available and other issues are resolved to deliver on-time and contain costs.

Develops, leads, and mentors teams focused on product quality and improvement.

Reviews post-implementation exercises to implement improvement suggestions and leverage identified strengths across the organization.



Aiag Core Tools Expectation - AIAG Core tools are seen as being fundamental in support of the automotive preferred quality system ISO/TS 16949, and delivering satisfactory product quality.

Six Sigma - This skill is concerned with three disciplines: (1)TDFSS (Technology Development for Six Sigma): the systematic methodology of integrating statistical tools into the Product Proceeding Technology process in order to achieve predictive design quality and meet Voice of the Customer requirements. (2)DFSS (Design for Six Sigma): similar tools used in the product and process development work in order to achieve predictive design quality and meet Voice of the Customer requirements. (3)DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Six Sigma: a disciplined approach to enterprise-wide quality and improvement and variation reduction using statistically-based tools.

Local Quality System (Project Management) - Local Quality System (Project Management) entails applying the right quality system principles for the project and organization. This involves knowing the quality system, knowing where to get the relevant documents, knowing which procedures apply to the project, enabling the team to align with them and/or identify deviations appropriate to the scope of the project, and then being able to pass an audit. Several quality processes may be included: Value Package Introduction (VPI), Value Package Change (VPC), Six Sigma, IT Project Management (ITPM), and many, many others. Plan, Control And Assure Product And Process Quality - Processes for quality planning (e.g. Design Review), validation methods, and drawing interpretation. Principles of inspection sample plans, measurement types and selection of measurement tools, and metrology practicesUnaware(0): Very little knowledge of how to Plan, Control and Assure Product and Process Quality.

Problem Solving And Quality Improvement - Problem Solving and Improvement approaches, including understanding of tools/process type and selection, plus Corrective and Preventive Action processes.Unaware(0): Have very little knowledge of Problem Solving and Quality ImprovementAware(1): Knowledge of the basic processes and tools of problem solving and can participate in problem solving efforts.

Rapid Problem Solving - The ability to use the Rapid Problem Solving Processes such as 7Step, FTAs and FMEAs to; identify and define product issues, to develop and implement fixes, and to implement controls to ensure that the issues will not be repeated.

Capability Analysis - Capability Analysis is the study of how well the performance of a product or process meets its specifications. In capability analysis, various capability indices (Z, Pp, Ppk, Cp, Cpk, DPU, DPMO) are calculated to determine the level of compliance (or capability). Topics include Six Sigma process capability, statistical assumptions, traditional process capability indices, variable capability studies, short-term and long-term capability studies, non-normal capability data analysis, and the use of MINITAB to perform capability analysis. This skill is a module in DMAIC, DFSS, and TDFSS training. It can also be developed through the class Capability-User (ENG0345).

Life Data Analysis - Life Data Analysis is the application of various techniques to predict the life of a component or system based on measured failures from testing. A detailed understanding of the specific problem/failure and a review of the available data is required. Distribution analysis and goodness of fit tests are used to choose an appropriate distribution that models the behavior of the data most appropriately. Censored data analysis techniques are required as well as survival analysis techniques at the higher proficiencies. The Reliability User: Life Data Analysis course (ENG0335) provides an introduction to using MINITAB to complete the analysis. This material is also covered in several modules in DFSS and TDFSS training.

Warranty Data Analysis - Warranty data analysis refers to the application of several methods and tools to conduct data analysis for problem detection, problem solving, problem quantification, and fix verification. Skills included: basic reliability definitions and measures, warranty coverage's and their effect, and interpretation of basic output. Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related technical or scientific subject required.


Significant relevant work experience required, including managerial and budgetary experience. Broad business knowledge required.

Networkswith VPI team to share current product platform quality issues and risks to VPI programs and vice versa.
